Help me out here. by Velocity

I got this adware called NexGen Media Player that appears to have installed itself.

Despite "supposedly" uninstalling it and removing all of its files manually, it is still showing up god damn ads right out of nowhere, repeatedly.

If anyone knows how to get rid of this piece of shit, let me know.

TL;DR I got adware called NexGen Media Player. Help me remove it. ;n;

    Anti virus is your friend!

I got Avira Antivirus just a moment ago soooo. ;D

But it didn't find the damn thing.

Avast free antivirus is the best there is for free. Malwarebytes is the best for scanning when your normal one doesn't pick anything up. Just try it. I'd try Malwarebytes first!

Download malwarebytes antivirus. I've had much success getting rid of viruses that fight back with it. It sounds to me like that virus is in the boot files, which may explain why it comes back. Malwarebytes should get rid of it. (it's free) ^^

Already just got one, Avira. :D

        Erm as in Avira Antivirus.

Not all antivirus is the same, in fact some are amazing while others are terrible. I highly recommend giving malwarebytes a try being as when it finds viruses it restarts your computer and deletes them on startup, which gets rid of viruses that attach to your boot files. Make sure you let it update before you run a full scan. (also another thing I love about it is the scans don't lag up my computer like most other scans. Lol)

I would recommend running a scan with Spybot Search and Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/) that is a tool I have used on many occastions to clean up computers I have worked on and for an Anti-virus I recommend Avast! over Avira have had a better experience with it, it is free same as Avira and Malwarebytes. And just a heads up while Malwarebytes is good at removing virus on the system after a manual scan it has no real-time engine on the free version so it is not a good idea to have that as your only line of protection, also because of there being no real time scanner you can run it along side another anti-virus just do not have both scan at the same time.

Nexgen bullshit is not a virus, but an annoying thing that displays fucking ads. When I restart computer, I get a message from windows saying the bullshit ad pop-up thing is not responding, meaning it's somewhere. You can end the process, but you would have to delete the bullshit.

Instructions to remove this crap (for some people) Just find your Windows operating system in the list.

      Windows 8

Open the Charms bar by moving your cursor to the lower right hand corner of your screen and select Settings. Select Control Panel and click on Uninstall a program. Select the application and click Uninstall. Follow the on-screen prompts to remove the application

      Windows 7 or Vista

Go to the Start menu. Select Control Panel > Uninstall Program. Choose the application and click the Uninstall/Change button. Follow the on-screen prompts to remove the application.

      Windows XP or earlier

Go to the Start menu. Go to Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs. Select the application and click Change/Remove. Follow the on-screen prompts to remove the application.

Then you might want to check program files and look for Nexgen, then delete the folder.

I know it isn't a virus. Apparently I messed up the TL;DR, I'll fix that.

And I did that. All of it. It is still displaying ads.
