How to pick your FURCAR team by furcar

(Please read even if you are a FURCAR veteran!)

FURCAR POOLS

The pools for each race will be posted after NASCAR qualifying.

With NASCAR changing the qualifying rules to eliminate the guaranteed start for drivers in the top-35, we are unsure at this point in time how this will affect the FURCAR pools. However, the FURCAR pools will still reflect the NASCAR season points at the beginning and middle of each of our three annual seasons, and will further be changed to reflect which drivers actually qualified for that weekend's race. For instance, if Jeff Gordon is second in points but crashes during qualifying and is disqualified from the race, his name will be removed from the Pool 1 list.

**Do NOT use NASCAR's driver rankings to select a driver for your pool based on their current points. ** FURCAR sets the pools at the beginning and middle of a FURCAR season (**), regardless of if a NASCAR driver has moved up or down the points as the season progresses.

(**FURCAR has 3 seasons every year, breaking up the NASCAR schedule into smaller sections.)

PICKING YOUR TEAM

You have two options when it comes to picking your team:

1) Pick a team of 6 drivers (2 from each of the three pools) every week from the weekly posted pools for that race.

OR

2) Pick a "permanent" team to be used until the pools change.

If you pick the latter, you can still email FURCAR with changes for just that week, or tell us you're swapping out a driver permanently.

If you are someone with a busy schedule who might not always check Weasyl once it gets close to the race, we recommend picking option #2 so your team is always racing.

Also, keep in mind that if you select a "permanent" team, you MUST resubmit your pools to FURCAR at the beginning and middle of EACH season. You CANNOT send in your pools once and expect us to carry them forward throughout the year. Even if you ask us to. Along with the fact that the FURCAR pools can radically change each time they're reset, the FURCAR pools can also change based on an individual NASCAR driver's qualifying efforts. So feel free to pick a permanent team, but please keep an eye on the weekly pools to make sure your drivers are still eligible so you don't lose points.

IMPORTANT #1: We highly recommend you email (furcar@furfright.org) your picks in every week to FURCAR instead of posting them here. People have experienced computer/internet failures over the weekend. Save a copy of the current pools for the current season to your computer (or better yet print them out or write them down!), and keep the FURCAR email (furcar@furfright.org) on hand. This way, you maximize your ability to send in your team every week.

Speaking of failures, we recommend that you write down your driver selections too in case you have to make last-minute changes to your team but your internet/computer is down. (presuming you have a friend/laptop/tablet/cell phone with email capability or can run to a local library) We have had cases where I have emailed people after not receiving their picks and they have not been able to remember their selections because they posted them online.

Also, do NOT post your picks as a Note to the FURCAR Weasyl account. We do not check or even see our Inbox for this account.

IMPORTANT #2: If selecting a driver who shares a last name with another NASCAR driver, please be sure to include their FIRST name when sending in your picks. Yes, it will probably be obvious if you've selected Kyle or Kurt Busch and they're in different pools, but please get in the habit anyway.

If you have any questions, NOW is the time to ask!
