Archery & Other Things by TanzaniteBlood

Random journal, cause I can.

Been busy this month, we finally got me a practice recurve bow that has a 25 lb draw. I had it since...last month. Yet ABQ is one of those lovely places that weather doesn't have a set pattern. It's spring but we had snow, it's spring but there are days it's so windy and cold you just sit in the house glaring at the sky. Then if it is bright and sunny, it's windy enough that the only thing you can do is fly a kite.

Finally it seems that the weather is settling down into some what of a normal rhythm, enough that I was able to get accustomed to my bow and actually be able to shoot it. Since I've been actually able to each weekend, I've been a happy little wolf thing who's been wanting to do archery since I was like 9 @_@ Once I can actually fully pull the draw and shoot without my arrows all over the targets. Anoka is suggesting we upgrade to a better, and heavier draw of a recurve. I've seen some traditional wooden ones at the archery shops here, and so far the heaviest draw I've seen is 65 - 70 lbs.

Pretty decent as I've been told (was told 70 is ideal for hunting bear....BEAR!) Anoka is looking into getting a modern compound with a decent draw weight at around 100+. The type you can adjust to make the weight lighter (he wants to start at 40 lbs as my lil 25 lbs is like child's play for him > > I hate his awesome eye sight/marksmanship) . Though he's still eying crossbows, so we may end up with a few bows to play with xD I'm happy cause it's something we both like and can do (I am not a gun person so going out shooting those is as fun as me watching a fly zip about) and it also forces me to be active.

Yeah, I'm horribly lazy and when I get a comfort zone I am very stubborn about leaving it. Being out in the sun, getting baked, sweating, and actually using muscles is something my body is not agreeing with. Yet, I am tired of being within my "ideal weight" but being flabby, it's like "wow I'm a lazy fuck!" As you can see archery is definitely giving me a good and fun reason to get out :3

Then there is my "children", I have two dogs (girls), two snakes (girls), and two ferrets (boy & girl, siblings actually). The puppies have been enjoying the weather too, since we go out for walks in areas they can run and "chase" prairie dogs. Otherwise they harass each other, the snakes are....well being snakes XD It's the ferrets that give me a run for my money. Especially Tali my girl, she has just been pushing one specific button. She digs at the carpet under the door to the room (we close it to let them run around). And it's messing it up, she so pig headed that I've been at it already for three weeks to get her to stop...brat.

Then Anoka's graduation from ALS is almost up, then he sews on Staff. Yay! He has two years left in the AF but he's very much debating staying in or not. Yeah military is decent but not for someone of his personality or views on the world. The only reason he joined was that we would be on the streets otherwise and he refused to 1.) Find himself in that position, 2.) Put me in that position. Now with more options available he's been sniffing about.

Wow, I guess I had more to randomly talk about. Normally I'm like "I have nothing, now to go harass one of my friends cause I feel lonely". You know who you are and I love you guys for putting up with me <3 But in a nutshell I've been busy and very much getting out of the house as much as possible. Got some pretty good cabin fever during winter time. Though I should try drawing more > >

So yeah....how is everyone else enjoying spring time?
