As I mentioned in my previous journal, "I'll Lose Weight" came in #5 on the Dr. Demento Top Ten for April list. This is down one spot from the #4 position it managed last month.

This gives me 13 points towards the yearly total, and puts me tied for 4th place for the Funny 25.

However, 13 points is usually not enough to get anywhere close to a top spot. For example, "Census" garnered 24 points in 2010 and only got to #3 for the year. Without at least one more appearance on the Top Ten, "I'll Lose Weight will likely end up in the middle of the pack, around 10-15.

I would love to see it become the #1 song of the year, but that will require at least one, more likely two, high placements in the Top Ten. This requires a lot of people to be requesting the song of him.

So, please tell your friends and neighbors to go to http://www.drdemento.com and then click on "Request A Song" on the left hand side.

On the form that pops up, fill in your name, and BE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS (without it, the vote does not count), then request "I'll Lose Weight" by Max DeGroot. Between now and May 20th or so, each vote from a different email address will count.

Assuming I'm on the list for May, expect me to come back and ask you to do it again, for June.
