Raising money for a VERY good cause. Please read this, it's very important to me. by Arcturus

As some of you may be aware, I am one of the few who is getting the chance to be an early user and developer for the new Google Glass.

You may also know that I have early-onset dementia caused by a genetic disease that's progressive. This means that something that I can wear which can give me reminders, allow quick note-taking, overlay directions for me to get to places, let me take pictures and video to replace my short-term memory deficits...

well, it'd be like giving someone who lost a leg a prosthesis. It can help fix some of what I've lost. It can help me get towards normal.

Which brings me to the Safety Glass Project.

I intend to use them and start developing software, plugins and a website that will enable people to use the Glass as a way to help them talk and manage their doctors, remember important health information, connect to things like heart rate monitors, blood glucose meters, fitness monitors and more to try and give ill patients a good way to track their health.

Not only that, but storing emergency information, record video and audio during events such as confusion, or mild seizures, things like that, to provide real-time records to aid diagnosis. Even allow you to automatically send information to your doctor, or an ER physician in an emergency situation.

Everything will be transparent, as open source as possible and designed so that people can run these things themselves, so they don't have to worry about things like HIPPA, as they will be managing their own medical information and can share it with whom they want.

And this way, if it's open source, people who wish to help out such as specialists in the medical fields, or in bioinformatics, who might know best ways of communicating or handling certain types of data can do that. And if I get sick, or hospitalized or something, I don't have to worry about people not being able to get at things to keep the development progressing.

This is how I want to give back to all the medical professionals and the medical world that's trying to help me to get diagnosed, treated and cared for, something that takes a lot of time, money and work because genetic diseases are rare.

But I can't do it alone. The hardware alone is expensive and whilst I can work on software for free, develop these things and give the tools away so that everyone, rich or poor, will be able to improve their lives... I need help in this, the early stage.

So I'm trying to raise funds. Ideally, to get the hardware from Google and a set of the more common bluetooth-accessible hardware devices I want to raise $2000. It's a lot, but it's for a good cause. And -anything- I can get to go towards it, means helping out:

Because the rest will have to come out of my own pocket and I already have plenty of medical bills and stuff of my own to pay for. But I want to help the world at large.

So if there's anything you can do to help, it would... it would be so incredible. Anything from donating just a few dollars, to running an art auction or selling adoptables, or even just spreading the word.

ANYTHING. It will be for a good cause. Advancing the treatment of people with both manageable but carefully monitored to incurable, debilitating and disabling physical and mental conditions.

Everyone who helps will be thanked, they will be credited in the developed software and I will give any of you I meet in the future a big goddamn hug. And I will let you know exactly what the funds are used for, publicly.

The only thing that won't be shown, is if a donator or artist or whatever wants to be kept anonymous. Then they can be anonymous.

If you want to help, send me an email: safety.glass.project@malicelabs.com and let me know how you want to help, if you can. Otherwise, please, spread the word. FA, dA, Inkbunny, Weasyl, Tumblr, anywhere and everywhere you wish to~

I'll be throwing up a page shortly where I will list donators and how much they've helped and where to find them to thank them. Also... I <3 you all. For taking the time to read this.

Current Amount Raised: $0 / $2000
