Inktober and 30 Days of Werewolves are no complete on Halloween, I wish I could say I planned that but it was pure chance. Didn't do a drawing a day as some days I did work long hours at work (which new job I can't draw at) so there is that. One theme that did seem to keep coming up inspired by the metric ton of McCree werewolf art from Overwatch, was the idea of a rouge cowboy werewolf. I like the idea as well as the aesthetic so much so I started doing more with it...a lot more.

It's still in the development stages but after talking to a few people I can say that I've wanted to work on a werewolf comic for some time. Trouble with comics is setting and story. One goes with the other. Imagine Stranger Things set in any other decade other than the 1980's would it work? Maybe but I don't think it would be quite as effective as it's theme and story line are an homage to 1980's horror films over all, not to mention all the fun references. The last few werewolf comics I mapped out were all set in the modern era and the trick there is a hard one. How would werewolves hide from a 24 hour news cycle, youtube, cell phone camera's everywhere? Without the mystery of who is a werewolf and who isn't there or the suspense of werewolves hiding in the shadows, it just lacks something personally.

So why not do a werewolf comic set in the Old West? The unexplored frontier of yesterday? No cameras there, lots of superstition, and plenty of moral ambiguity to make our werewolf main character neither totally good but not the totally evil mindless monster of film land either. Heck I could even through in some other things too, more fantasy base can be more believable, see Penny Dreadful.
