ZooBoo 2017 Recap 2 by RentonTBuck

Today's ZooBoo event was definitely better than last Saturday. I say this because not only did it not rain, but it also left me with some memorable experiences I won't forget.

This is the first time I've volunteered for ZooBoo when the weather got rather cold out and there was very little snow on the ground. Fortunately for me, I was able to remain warm and toasty inside my fursuit the entire time. Unfortunately, I was assigned to an area near where there a couple sewage drains with the stench of raw sewage coming out of those drains; I simply chose not to breathe it in very much and just put up with the smell the entire night.

Alongside giving the children low-fives, hugs and having pictures taken with them, I've had children come up to me and ask questions I obviously couldn't answer verbally. For example, questions I've been asked include "How come you're not at Santa's workshop?" and "Are you Rudolph?" (This is mostly due to the fact that a majority of the visitors confused me for a reindeer rather than a whitetail buck). I've also had a little girl come up to me and say, "I love you, don't worry," before hugging me; I presumed she meant that because of how innocent my character looked, she wouldn't want to harm me and instead respect me for what I am, so that was rather sweet of her to say that. ^^

This year's ZooBoo is actually the 30th anniversary of the event. Because the zoo is planning to remodel a couple major areas soon, this will be the last ZooBoo that would follow the traditional route for visitors to follow, and ZooBoo would not resume until 2019. Still, I'm proud to have been a part of volunteering there for the past three years, and I look forward to what ZooBoo has planned in a couple of years. :)
