My friend's cat had her first litter of kittens this morning and has been noticing the runt being distant from the rest of the litter.
It does eat, it has been eating (even tho she hasn't seen it eat except for right now that the other kittens are asleep) and the mom has been giving it attention
It doesn't leave the mother however, but when the mom leaves the cage the runt will go back to the litter.
So far my friend hasn't seen the mother avoid it since she did mention her being caring towards it but she has to keep moving the runt back to the other kittens every few minutes
Is this normal? Could this possibly maybe that the runt doesn't want to be with the other kittens?

no that is not normal, its probably having trouble latching on to the teet (boobie). that baby will probably need a dropper and KMR (kitten milk replacer, not CATMILK like from whiskas but no real KMR), which you can get from a petstore or from a vet. if it doesnt get taurine (stuff in catmilk thats good for them) in the first few weeks little probably die/not develop right so i would highly suggest getting some kmr and feeding the baby every couple of hours or so
