Does anyone give a shit about this site yet? by WhimsicalSquirrel
I've been away from Weasyl for a while. With how dead the place is it's been sort of hard to want to keep up a presence here. I noticed that forum topics I started in January are still among the newest threads so that doesn't bode well.
It's a fine enough website but...nobody interacts, you know? Feels like one of those school exercises where the teachers have you play a game to get to know each other but you're all too socially awkward to want to really participate so you kind of just shuffle around until they mercifully let you sit down.
Does anyone give a shit about this site yet?

People still stick to Furaffinity, even though... well, the less said about that place the better. There's also other, competing, smaller furry art sites like InkBunny, Furry Network, and probably some others

I wouldn't have even seen this comment if I hadn't of accidentally come here when trying to go to WWE's trainwreck of a website...
Anyway, Furaffinity still has interaction, which is why a lot of us are here, I'd say. Weasyl's a nice site but it's dead. It's like playing to an empty arena. We want our validation and attention, yes we do.
Furry Network was also dead as hell. I tried Inkbunny, trying to convince myself that "it's the pedophile site" was just unfair on my part. It was fair. It was so god damn fair. I lasted for like 2 hours before being too revolted to stay.
I barely look at Weasyl anymore. The 2 furry sites I spend the most time on are Furaffinity and Sofurry, although I mostly just pop in to the latter to submit stuff and then pop out. Until people actually start hanging out together on the other sites, I don't see them taking off the same way, even if they're run better.

People should leave Furaffinity, but no one will, so no one does, cos everyone is there. Not complaining though, I'd rather the scum were there than here.

Well as much as I enjoy insulting furries, I don't think it's fair to equate FA with "scum." I mean regardless of how you feel about FA itself, the fact is that the worst people on the internet can always be found on the most popular sites. If FA is ever overtaken by another furry site in terms of popularity the "scum" will be over there, too.
I know there's a whole hell of a lot of negative press for the administration of FA and from what I can tell it seems pretty deserved but at the same time I don't always understand all the drama over it, largely because it's a free site and one can always leave. I have no loyalty to them, my attitude is basically that I use the site to my own ends. It's all about Whimsy over there.

I think this site is just too small right now; it has a good layout but not enough users. I think most people already use DA or FA to interact with each other, so there aren't many people who actually need another place to talk. I mean, just look at how much content is up on deviantArt versus Weasyl.
