Games to check out! by Tredain

Hi folks!

Dropping by and thought I'd tell ya bout stuff I've been playing lately because I'm finally digging through my Steam library and just some recent stuff that caught my eye.

First off, Night in the Woods!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/481510/

The best way I can sum this game is up it's about small town millennials dealing with a ghost story. And it's all furries. To be fair, it's less a game as much as an interactive narrative, the story is roughly linear but you can choose how to spend days between your two best friends, following their respective plotlines. There is a bunch of optional stuff to check out that expands the story, lots of side characters to follow and things to do for achievements so it has a fair bit of replay value (and its impossible to see everything on the first playthrough). The art style is cute, the characters are all well rounded and extremely relatable (At least I found them so, but I'm a small town milliennial) and the story gets pretty interesting, I'm already deep into play through #2 checking stuff out. So yeah if you like story heavy games, give it a whirl.

Also, Crimes!

Next up, Anodyne!

I've had this a while but finally decided to check it out. I'm still in the middle of it so I can't say a ton except it has a very Zelda feel to it, though tools and treasures are drastically scaled back. It starts out fairly sleepy and the plot is so far pretty abstract and mysterious, it starts out fairly sedate though and now that I've tipped past the initial offerings things have started to get really trippy so I'm looking forward to getting into it. it's pretty simplistic but if you like old school zelda style you could spend 10$ in worse ways.

Finally, Bastard Bonds!

By FA's very own :iconCaptainGerbear: it has tons of his gorgeous art. I mean, the eye candy alone is a great reason to check this out but I'm pretty biased. But yeah, lots of great looking big bodies, both in the playable characters and a lot of the NPCs. Also lot of kick ass looking monsters!

Anyhow, how does it play? Turn based Tactical RPG in a heavy fantasy setting with all kinds of races. You're a prisoner sent to a remote island prison and you hook up with other island residents (largely all prisoners) to try to escape, along the way forming a band of Bastards with which you'll bond with. it's got a lot of classic fantasy game mainstays, an elemental type magic system, character alignments, and managing resources (to a point). Still getting my feet wet on this one but really loving it. It can be rough around the corners here and there but for the most part it explains things pretty well, there's a ton to explore, and there's a bit of randomization and just -lots- of things to discover so you'll likely want to roll new characters and replay.

Did I mention the art? It's also just refreshing seeing a game that isn't shy about male nudity (You can even leave your character nude!)

Also it just got a discount! Well worth the price for the time you'll sink into it :D

Anyway, just wanted to plug what I've been checking out lately, think a lot of folks would dig these.
