So the internet is making a lot of noise because the yellow ranger in the new power rangers movie will be a lesbian.

Ok.

See, this is a problem. Not because people will be rabid about seeing a children's character portrayed as a gay character. Far from that. However what is exactly the point of this. Power Rangers was all about flipping in the air and use a Voltron like robot to kill alien monsters. There was very little context on anyone's sexuality or even a love interest. It was more of a kids show than anything else.

Why bring this out now? I tell you why. Because the entertainment industry is a greedy bitch who will take advantage of anything that is being talked about just to try and appeal to that certain audience all to get a few more dollars in their ever expanding wallet. Don't think for a second they do this to support anything other than their money hungry ways.

However it's too early for me to definitely see their intentions. Until I watch the movie I will hope these shameless people would at least try to put some context on this character other than "she's gay! WOO!" In a blatant way to gain more attention to said movie.

One can only hope.
