Hello Everyone! by Mav

Gosh I never know what to put in journals ever haha. I've had this account for a little bit now, but haven't actually submitted much until recently. I really love the organization of this site, though I wish that you could add art to your collections even if the artist isn't on this site. The organization is ALMOST perfect, it's just that one thing!

Anywho, I'm working on the reference sheet for my character, Gimmick, and that will be uploaded either tonight or tomorrow. HOPEFULLY I'll be done it by tomorrow.

So how is everyone doing? How do you find this site? <:

The site is very nice. My favorite thing is what you're mentioning;organization. Folders can be the most valuable tool for an artist. I also like it that the site is very calm and peaceful. Not a lot of traffic to my page, which surprisingly, I like. And the commissions tab is fantastic. I don't know any other site that has that.

I still would like some features like the ability to choose your featured submission. Maybe it's already in the settings, but I haven't figured it out.

Another thing I don't know about is that Collections option. Is it like favorites, or how does that work?

I also like the peacefulness of the site, even though it's a side effect of it not having as many users yet as other more popular sites.

I haven't figured out if it's possible to feature a submission of your choice, but that would be nice.

Favourites is for submissions that you enjoyed enough to consider a favourite, and Collections is for submissions that feature a character of yours, or has something to do with you as a user. Currently how it works, is that an artist submits something, and say it features a character of yours. They would send you a collections offer, and if you choose to accept it, the submission gets added to your collection!

My current issue is that if a certain artist isn't on this site, then in order for me to have the submission by them on my page, I would have to submit it myself. I can make a folder dedicated to art not by myself, but there is still that separation between that gallery, and my collections gallery.

If I remember correctly (too lazy to look right now), I did a journal of pretty much the same notice as you. The only thing I didn't complain about was the whole collections thing, but that's only because I don't have anything on that note to share just yet! Haha. But I agree with you, for sure. The organization of this site is amazing! It's all very smooth and easy. The only thing I really want to see improve (and this is an important one) is its community.

Let me tell you. I can submit something onto FurAffinity, and no more than a minute do I sit and just idle before someone either faves my submission or leaves a comment. On here, however, it's tough to get that audience. Understandably, it's because Weasyl is still incredibly young. A lot of users have yet to find their way here, or for whatever random reason refuse to join; perhaps they have enough art accounts to begin with, and just don't want to tack on yet another. But little do they realize the setup for this site is probably one of the best so far. At least, that's how I see it.

I fully support Weasyl, and I seriously hope more people come around, and more people start becoming a little more adventurous when it comes to viewing other artists and their works. A majority of the people I've told I really appreciate their works here on Weasyl are people I've never once heard of on any other site. I want to see more of that from others.

I agree on all counts, for sure. I actually had a little blurb about why Weasyl is so peaceful in my comment to GTHusky, but I omitted it because I wasn't sure if I wanted to stir that pot.

I basically just mentioned that FA, even though it's really outdated in design, remains pretty much number one when it comes to furry art sites, and it's just because it was around the longest, and people are wary to navigate away from that. Especially with well-established artists in mind. They HAVE the fanbase on FurAffinity, they'll get the commissions they need there without having to take the time to set up on another site and wait for more people to come along.

I want Weasyl to work SO MUCH, as it improves on everything I can't seem to stand about other sites. It has so much potential, but it's on us to make it thrive.

Yea, I'm really surprised by the amount of amazing artists I see here whom I have never seen anywhere else. It's very refreshing!
