Update - No Food & Overdrawn by Tygerwolfe

So now that I'm not so exhausted and am back to working today, I can finally update you all on what's going on.

We got the money we needed to secure the car! The car is no longer past due, and is up to date. Big thanks to my mother-in-law and to my Patron, Skywing, for making this happen, as well as to everyone who donated small amounts, shared the info, and got us what we needed in time.

And now for the current pressing situation - though not nearly as bad as the repossession and it's aftermath...we still need some help.

My Paypal is -$30 overdrawn after the beginning of the month automatic payments came out right on top of paying on the car. I need to fix the overdraft, AND get in enough money for my wife's medication within the next four days.

Also, we're out of food and our food stamps don't refill until the 5th, which is in two more days. We've already gone one day without food - I'd like to avoid going two more. We just need a bit over the overdraft to get some cheap food to take us through the next couple of days.

Now for the rest of the update - I have some good prospects this month and will hopefully be able to cover the car payment on my own by the 19th. However, there are a couple of issues still standing in our way.

First of all is the ticket I got when my tooth cracked in December, as I ran a red light on the way to the emergency extraction. The ticket is $495. I will be getting in touch with the court system and seeing if I can go in and explain myself. I have dated photos proving the pain and emergency of the situation, and also it was raining and there was little to no traffic at the time. I'm HOPING I can get a judge to throw out the ticket - or at the very least, offer me a payment plan. That's the first thing on my list.

The next thing is that my wife will be out of medication in four days. My mother-in-law covered her meds for two weeks while we were dealing with the repossession and everything that came after, but she's coming to the end of that supply and my mother-in-law can't afford to help us again this month beyond the usual room and board.

However, with the cat payment paid off (yes, he is completely paid off now! No more repossession fear for Prince James Tumblefluff Ward the First!), and all of our credit cards having gone to collection companies, the only real thing we have to focus on is the car payment, insurance, and medication.

Thanks to Patreon this month, I was able to pay our insurance on time and that's taken care of.

Now the medical update.

I had my right side deep cleaning dentist appointment on the first. The left side will be done on the 15th, but between now and then I have the biopsy on the nodule in my thyroid and we are finally going to find out if I have something cancerous that is going to cause me to have to have surgery to remove the right lobe of my thyroid...or if it's something that will go down with medication.

The results of the MRI on the lump in my right leg suggest that the lump is actually really advanced cellulitis - which is dangerous because it can go septic, but NOT as dangerous as if it were cancer. They've put me on two courses of two completely different antibiotics and nothing helped. So now I'm going to be set up to go to the dermatologist to see what they can do for me.

I also have a consultation soon for gastric sleeve surgery, which should help me lose weight despite my inability to do cardio-style exercise due to my spinal problems, arthritis, and chronic pain. This is exciting to me, though the thought of the surgery itself is terrifying.

So now you're all up to date on the situation. The FAQ has also been updated and edited for readability so if you haven't checked that out to learn about our whole situation and the steps we've taken so far, please do. It's kept as up to date as I can manage and I do add more questions when more than one person asks them. That link is below.

That's it for this update. Thank you all for sticking with me through all of this. Things are getting better and I KNOW we can get the rest of the way out of this hole.

There's going to be some fun icons on my Patreon this month, free for all Patrons. Check out that link to find out how you can get some neat stuff for your donation (even if it's just $1!). Other perks include bi-monthly free art drawings (from Delta level and above - a $55 value), and getting to read my books long before they're published, as well as influence the editing process and get your name in the dedications. I'm adding new stuff all the time, so please do check that out if you can.
