If you don’t like my idea or my character(s), whether in part or whole, but have already agreed to do the thing, don’t fucking change it without saying anything.

I am in no way okay with that, and if money is involved, it will likely be the last time.

I don’t appreciate having my characters redesigned to make you happy, I don’t appreciate having my ideas changed to keep you interested. Either talk to me about it so we can work something out, or tell me you’re not interested anymore so we can call the whole thing off.

I’m not talking about artistic variance here, I want to be clear about that. Different people have different styles, you’d have to be a fucking idiot not to understand that. I’m talking about changing what I asked for; expressions, poses, traits of the character (whether physical or personality), etc. If you’re not comfortable/confident with something I’m asking for, or want to add or change a thing: Let. Me. Know. Talk to me about it.

Do not come to me with this “I thought this was better” cutting-me-out-of-the-equation bullshit. I will lose my confidence and trust in you as an artist. Especially if money is involved.

Yes, I’m very anal about my characters/ideas, and I know I can be difficult to work with. I try not to be a pain, or ask for too much, but I don’t think expecting to be treated with respect and consideration during such an exchange qualifies as either.
