I had a pre-holiday incident yesterday and it ate up the funds I put aside for my wife's medication. She will run out on Christmas Day, so I want to get this update out there before she runs out so help has time to come.

Yesterday I went to my Pain Management appointment like I do every three months. It was horribly rainy and the roads were partially flooded out. As a result I had to go down some streets I'd never been down before and I went over a bump that ended up being much "harder" than I expected it to be.

My teeth clacked together, I heard a crack, and then I swallowed something hard. Almost immediately my mouth lit up with some of the most searing localized pain I've ever felt. And each breath seemed to make it worse.

I had cracked a large piece of my right, top premolar - the tooth right behind the canine tooth - clean off and swallowed it.

I pulled over and spent almost an hour calling dentists that took my state insurance, looking for someone who could see me that day. I found someone, but my insurance isn't perfect.

Six pain-filled hours, and one stint of oral surgery later, I had the broken tooth extracted and was given permission by my pain management doctor to double dose my pain meds for a couple of days to try and compensate for it.

The surgery itself was covered by the insurance. The extra anesthetic they had to use because I apparently am a Novocain resister wasn't covered and I owed $100 right then at the end of the day.

That money had been a donation I had put aside to handle my wife's next week of medication, and now it's gone.

On top of that I have a more restricted diet than usual and none of the foods on my list (yogurt, eggs, jello) do I have in the house. I have no food stamps left, $1.34 in PayPal, and Chase is -$11.95 overdrawn... So I haven't eaten since yesterday morning and I have no prospects for eating today, though I supposedly need to eat to speed the healing process.

The pictures are a little graphic (go to the latest update on GoFundMe to see them), but I want to be clear that I'm not making this up - this was an emergency and I thank you all that I had the funds to deal with it when it happened. But now I need medication money for my wife again, and I need food money for me.

If there's anything anyone can do, please...I really at least need to eat. My wife won't be out of meds until Christmas Day, at bedtime, but I need to eat before that. I have to take care of myself so I can take care of her.
