Casting Call -- Female Voice/Singer by Dipper

A very good friend of mine has done some excellent voice work under difficult circumstances, however, her situation has changed and it appears she will no longer be able to continue doing the role.

As a result, I am now in the process of accepting auditions for a part in The Beach Bears Story. It is an ongoing audio story which is presently serialized on FA, InkBunny, and SoFurry, and is being revamps, re-recorded, improved, etc., etc. for posting on YouTube. The project is, at worst, PG-13. Adult situations are discussed, sometimes hinted at or foreshadowed, but never explicitly recorded or shown. An occasional 4-letter word is used, but only, as I believe proper, to act as an exclamation point on the material given.

The part you will be auditioning for is the part of Sara Goodall, a female mountain lion who becomes a love interest for Stargazer, one of the principle three characters in the story. She is a sales rep for a yacht company that has her travelling all over the world, despite growing up in Huntington West Virginia. Due to that, it is best if she has a very clear American accent. She is very sure of herself, but hides a deep hurt, which gets revealed early on in the story. You will need to be able to sing, but I am not expecting grand opera. Just the ability to hold a tune and a familiarity in basic vocal techniques.

The part requires only a few lines per chapter, and the chapters are not that frequent, although at the beginning, I will need to re-record quite a few chapters, so a number of lines (about 20 or so) will need to be recorded, along with two songs at present.

To audition, send an mp3 of you as the character Sara, reading the following line: "Actually, Star... I don’t really have a home. With my work, I travel a lot. It’s actually cheaper for me to just stay in a hotel room when I’m in town, rather than to rent an apartment I’m away form for months at a time." Give me three different readings of the lines, with different interpretations (you will be expected to do this for the actual project, so, consider this warmup). The mp3 should be at least 128bps. If cast in the role, you will be expected to submit them in wav format. In addition, please send a sample of you singing a portion of the following song:

You will be expected to be able to sing this song in its entirety if you get the role, singing to a backing track which will be provided. Having headphones so you can listen to the track while singing and recording it will be expected, since the recording must be of just your voice.

Again, both should be submitted in mp3 format, 128bps minimum, although if you get the part you will be expected to submit work in wav format.

Send the audition to degroot.max[at]gmail.com with the subject line "Sara Audition" . Include not only the mp3s but any information you feel will convince me that you are right for the part. Also include a means of contacting you, whether it be FA, email, or whatever. Also include how you want to be credited should you get the part.

Realize that this project is a labor of love for me, and as such I am not making any money on the project that doesn't get funneled right back into the project. As a result, I would prefer those who don't require remuneration aside from credit for their work. I will, however, consider it for the right voice.

Realize that if this project takes off, thousands on YouTube will hear your voice and it can be used to help fill out your portfolio.
Offer void in Transylvania. Side Effects may include laughter, splitting sides, loss of breath, and in extreme cases vomiting. License and taxes extra. Opinions expressed are mine, and mine alone, and are not to be attributed to any group I may associate myself with. Serving suggestion. Refrigerate after opening.
