Medical Updates + Other Brief Things by Rezorian

I'll keep this one quick if I can, because I ramble a lot and people have things to do and such!

Biggest news is that my surgery wound has healed up and I'll be returning to work this coming week. Was touch and go for a while, money wise, so this is a good thing for sure. No more calls from bill collector's either! ... Well, I mean, for now at least so...victory!

Not much talk on E3 from me either this time around: New consoles are coming, sure, but I don't care about hard specs (Project Scorpio / Playstation Neo). The games are what sells me and, for the moment, it was just tech demos and more long press conferences. For what it's worth though, here are the games I'm actually curious about:

  • Watch Dogs 2 - Hey, I actually enjoyed the first one, despite it's many problems
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn - Still a generic name, but I'm looking forward to it
  • Ghost Recon: Wildlands - Another bad name, but the setting has promise

And, the ones I'm already sick of hearing of...

  • Resident Evil 7 - It's amazing how much leeway people give Capcom. The company who killed Mega Man and does little but re-release Resident Evil games at this point made sure to mention "going back to it's roots" and then...made their own version of P.T. apparently. This is me being specific, but going back to RE's roots would be this: A third person perspective. Rare, but tense, combat. Immersive setting. The teaser they showed, and the demo they released for RE7, was more a haunted house with jump scares than an RE game to me. The announcement of VR for the game put the nail in that coffin. RE7 can rot as far as I'm concerned.

  • Titanfall 2 - The story of the first one was trash. The multiplayer had no lasting replay value either. Respawn Entertainment (the developer) claims to be addressing both issues. We'll see. Until then - cool your jets folks. It's not the second coming for online shooters here. It's a set of trailers.

  • Death Stranding - The new, and terribly-titled, release from former Metal Gear design lead Hideo Kojima's new studio. The only thing the trailer told me is what all of his stories have ever told me: Madness. They make no sense, this is sure to be no different. At least now we'll get to see him go full Kojima with this nonsense. Could be a fun ride, might not. Can't really tell now, but his fans will keep reminding us I'm sure...I've been hearing about it (weather I wanted to or not) since the trailer was released.

As I've already rambled enough, I'll stop there. For the record - I do enjoy games, just not the hype machine around them that rears it's head around this time of year. Here's hoping every one of these games are great and all that. Just do me a favor and save the hype for when they're actually out and deserve it, alright?

Later folks. Enjoy the rest of your day/night wherever you are!
