Fizgig Update II by thatlittlegoblin

Moderate rating due to content, which might make you feel a bit squeamish.

So since Fizgig isn't getting the nutrition she needs (or rather is refusing to do so herself) the vet is going to insert a feeding tube and accomodate her to being fed through it. The type they're doing is actually inserted through the back of her neck, next to the airway directly into the esophagus, so we can feed her through it ourselves and she'll be free to move around. We'll be picking her up tomorrow afternoon, where they'll teach us how to feed her at home until she's healthy enough to eat on her own.

Hopefully it won't need to be in for very long, a month at most, after which the vet will remove it.

Cam and I are both very tired and worried, we even forgot to ask how much it would cost. But to be honest, not doing it wasn't an option so cost doesn't really matter. We both just want our tinycat to feel better.

This week has been stressful and hectic. Blugh.

    This reminds me of a tiny cat that belonged to a former room-mate that ended up getting a cancerous mass in her thigh. The leg was amputated and once she recovered was a perfectly adorable little tripod terror for a few years before the cancer resurfaced. They searched high and low to try to find a vet that would take on the case, even so far as going to the University of Alabama a state over.
    Watching them go through that was a painful experience that I hope you don't have to share.

      Thankfully it's not cancer, but it is a congential disorder. Our vet has already made us fully aware she intends to help us care for Fizgig for the rest of her (hopefully) long and happy life which I'm so thankful for ;H;

      That sounds so harrowing for your friends! I'm so sorry that happened to them. And you! It's never easy to watch someone you know go through a difficult time when all you can do is be there.
