Downtime and moving stuff over by Rouge_Artist

Just a small update journal about current events effecting life right now oh and of course moving things here to weasyl.

Edit: okay..... That did not go as planned. No matter I'll learn how to use weasyl over time, no biggie. Also typing this on my phone since my internets been out for the better part of the week. That's presented a lot of obsicles for this week, especially with what's been happening with FurAffinity. I can't really upload anything right now, since I'm using my phones data to post this. But as soon as I can I'll be posting things here that I have on FA, and maybe some more of my other art.

Speaking of which, today I saw some comments from dragoneer, posted to twitter, dealing with how the users of FA have been reacting to this recent attack. I'm deciding to talk about this because not only was this another attack, because honestly this sort of attack can happen to any site, but because of how the whole situation has been handled by FA . Knowing what I know about computers, web development and coding, I can see how much of a nightmare this really has and will turn out to be. What you do within the first 24 hours after a cyber attack starts can really prevent a lot of damage and headaches afterwords. It took almost a week for Dragoneer and his staff to admit publicly that personal user data, passwords and emails where stolen in the attack. In that week they gradually told eveyone to change passwords, but for some it was too late.

Sorry if it seemed like I went off into a rant there, but its really, and I mean really, hard for someone not to get mad at how something of this magnitude has been so mishandled this far. How can you not think that there wasn't a breech of security right away? Why didn't you inform everyone via mass message or email? Why did it take a week to say there was a breech of security? I'm really getting tired of how Dragoneer deals with these kind of situations, including his staff too since they have the same responsibilities as well. This attack was way different from the last attacks. The last one only effected artist commissions. This one is on a different level and it effects more than art commissions.

I would say sorry for this rant, but this needs to be said. There's only so much a guy can take before he decides to start acting. That action from me starts with this journal. I'm not completely abandoning or jumping FA's ship since FA is where it seems like most of the fandom ends up. I'll be posting everything I post there to here, but I'll post more art stuff on here so I can get used to posting to weasyl. This place looks really nice. But for now, I have a con to get ready for next week so hoping everything goes well for everyone effected by this attack and that this time we'll get some answers.

So til next time enjoy yourselves, and please change your passwords if you are an FA user. Better to be safe now then having to deal with a headache later! ^^
