Music and Money by Ian the Gecko

I've had an acoustic guitar for almost 10 years. I bought it with the money I got from selling my old violin because I wanted to play the music that I wanted to play instead of the stuff they made me play in school. I wanted to be a rock star.

Over the years I've acquired 2 instruction books, a Beatles songbook, a No Doubt songbook, and dozens of worship songs, but I can't tell you how many of those songs I can play. Honestly, like so many things I had when I was a kid, the excitement lasted for a little while then faded. I picked up the guitar every now and then, but for the last few years it's pretty much been a toy to me. The only times I really got excited were when I wanted to learn a new worship song that I liked or when Rocky Mountain Fur Con rolled around so I could lead worship at our Christian gatherings.

The magic's gone.

And now I'm at a point in my life where I need a few hundred dollars for the deposit and/or move-in fees on a new place because there's no room for me to "live" at my mom's place. We also can't really get along living together anymore but that's a different blog.

So it's looking like I should sell the guitar, just like I sold my electric one back in September so I'd have money until I got my first Florida Rep paycheck. I haven't even taken it out of the case since I left Fort Myers. I'm not expecting more than a hundred or hundred and fifty dollars for the guitar; it's a Yamaha that I bought in a beginner's package deal at Guitar Center.

What do you think, readers? It's not like I'll have something big to sell every time I'm short on money. At the very least it'll speed up the process of saving up for another place to live by a couple weeks.
