School is Back in Session by Folly854

I'm back at school for the semester, so expect work flow to slow exponentially. I'll try to keep commissions coming at a moderately steady pace, but I can't promise much activity. I'll try to finish up what I have on the current list this weekend. If you have any questions or would like any updates, please feel free to ask.

In other news, I have responded to the world's rekindled love with Star Wars by watching and consequently becoming obsessed with Star Trek. Discuss.

You know that you don't have to rush on my account. I'll try to get you the next picture's money when I can, but one thing at a time. Anyhow, Star Trek: Beyond... You excited?

I went and watched Star Trek Into Darkness a bit ago and I realized what was wrong with it. You don't understand the context of what's going on until Khan explains it to you. Not to mention that even so a few things don't make sense to me, but when I watched it last, I realized that Into Darkness is a pretty decent movie, but it would have been much more well received if they'd put cues in earlier about what was going on instead of trying to protect the secret of Khan's identity and then dropping the backstory of why he did what he did for the first half.

Put simply at least for me, information was not dropped in the right order to get the reaction they were hoping for.

      I know, you've always bee patient. :)
Star Trek: Beyond... I do not like that it is being directed by The Fast and the Furious guy. I don't think that Star Trek has ever been, or should be, known for explosions and high-octane action sequences.

I think that the new movies are good movies, however, I don't think they're good Star Trek movies. I even watched them before I got into Star Trek and realized something was wrong. All the characters were super cranky or edgy, everything was darker than it should be, the thoughtfulness from the series was absent, and everything was based on action. I think Star Trek is a cerebral franchise for the most part, and it just seemed that the movies lacked a lot of that.

That's why I like TOS and TNG. :) I have yet to see the other series.

Yeah, I wasn't sure how to feel about that either, and while it does need action... I agree, they should really be more true to the soul of the franchise. I thought the first movie did a good job, but they seem to have a hard time remembering the ship itself is a character too, like Serenity on Firefly. Honestly, I am still looking forward to it, but I do hope it at least arranges the story better than Into Darkness, which really forced you to take it at face value without knowing why a lot was happening.

Well, we shall see when the new one comes out. Fingers crossed. :)
