Miasma is a non-morphic Lugia who was created in a lab by exposing a Lugia's egg to polluted sea water until it hatched. Miasma, initially rampant and uncontrollable, fled from the lab and flew until he passed out.

He would later wake up in the care of a trainer named Vance and his group of Pokemon: an Alakazam, an Absol, a Raichu, a Charmeleon, and a Lapras. Together, they tended to his ill body, the Alakazam helping soothe his fear-filled mind. It quickly became apparent that Miasma would never be like a normal Lugia; he harbors powerful toxins within his body, he is capable of spreading a poisonous fog for which he earned his name Miasma.

The fog he produces, depending on what poisons he releases, can cause anything from just slumber to the effects of nerve gas to even the quick killing of neurotoxins. Thankfully, he learned of this ability in a controlled environment with the aid of Vance and his team of Pokemon, so he is able to handle it easily.

For several years he stayed with the group, training his body and psionics while still not quite fitting in with everyone. One day, he felt the need to leave and see the world for himself to try and find his place in it. He is still currently travelling.

Personality-wise, he is curious and gentle, though he does have a short temper over pollution or mistreatment of Pokemon. Very intelligent and quick to understand difficult concepts, he is always eager to learn and see more. He is, however, distrustful of people at first and will go to great lengths to ensure that he will only befriend people and Pokemon who will not try to hurt him.
