The Demon's Keeper

Phagus, a practitioner of voodoo and dark ritual practice, was shaman of the sailfin tribe. Going down a path of darkness and secrecy, with his exalted position he took the rest of the tribe with him. He painted the way with sacrifice, cannibalism, and plain worship of death after making the grave mistake of taking a mate when such was forbidden.. The child born pure white with glaring red eyes, he cast away and named a "demon", keeping them in a cave to use to strike fear into the tribe for his own gain.

Background Summary

Phagus was born in the jungles of a southern Sailfin tribe. At 8 years old, he was captured and spent his early years as a slave by the name of Slate to a bliztrot of the lower plain colonies. His master, who he refuses to name, was slaughtered by himself in his escape after years of torment and finally snapping.

Later he would make it back to the jungles beyond the Eisure desert, to his tribe of Sailfin Dragons. There he eventually became their shaman, a spiritual leader, who’s duty was to leading the tribe and in turn was not allowed a mate.

Voodoo and dark studies took up his time as he searched for something to fill the void in his spirit. Though not long he became interested in and took a secret mate for himself, named Calluna. Phagus loved Calluna, more then the moon and the stars.. but this would not end well. As shaman Phagus was not allowed to have a mate let alone a child, so when Calluna became gravid things began to change for the worst.

The hatchling was pure white with wicked red eyes. Phagus was disgusted, truly a curse that he had brought on them for taking a mate when he shouldn’t have. He was angry, infuriated, and in his rage killed Calluna. He was left alone with that monstrosity.. that demon.

He hid it away, taking the child to a cave and leaving it there to rot. He couldn’t bring himself to leave it though. An idea forming. He’d use this demon.. yes, his demon of the jungle. Years went by, he fed nonsense into the Sailfins heads, wove a grand story of the demon of the jungle, how they were in danger if they did not sate it’s hunger.. They gave offerings, they had to. Their eggs, their precious unhatched young, taken to the cave and given to the “demon”. It escalated to raiding rival tribes in the area. Savagery and plundering made way as they took and destroyed, cannibalizing them. Phagus felt content with this, proud even of his enterprise, yet that void still felt so empty.

Later on in his years, the original bane of his existence would make their way into his home again, the bliztrots. They came with their soldiers, explorers, documenting the land and taking note of its resources. In retaliation he had the Sailfins attack, taking their men and readying to devour them. This was short lived, as a portion of the soldiers with their leader, Rationelle, were able to rescue the remaining alive and oust Phagus from his tribe.

Phagus then wandered off into the jungles alone and was never seen again by the Sailfin or the bliztrot. Not until later... He would eventually meet with the outcasted blitztrot, Goldfire, and learn to survive together with nothing else as they were both banished from their homes. This would aspire into a mutual relationship that blossomed into something more. Together they created Argus, Luceum, and Tipu, three little hybrid Sailfin blitztrots.

Their life was lived out on a beet farm in the outer reaches of the great plains. Phagus’s cannibal ways had ceased and that was that.
