Parcly Taxel is the Princess of Science, a dreamwalker and research mathematician at the National University of Equestria. Spindle is her windigo companion, providing emotional support and some temperature spells.

Parcly is introverted and detached from most ponies, but curious and organised in her work. With respect to other things she is more laid-back, sensitive to her surroundings and usually generous to those who wish her for things. This last point is related to her other status as a genie, granting wishes to ponies in need of it, as well as herself. Princess Luna is her master in an unusual way: Parcly can normally refuse or alter wishes as she likes, but Luna can on rare occasions override this (the deep purple alicorn does not like to do this, though).

Besides her interests in mathematics, she also likes astronomy and transforming into other creatures or objects (using her genie powers), while disliking video games and parties. The horn ring she always wears signifies her status as a genie.

In Saddle Arabia she trades her wings for more jewellery: earrings, a collar with sapphire, bracelets on the left hoof and an armband on the right, a waistband and translucent, thinner genie mist.

Parcly was born a unicorn to two pegasi, and she grew up distrusting them because of the difference in species – she was curious and smart, her head in the clouds, while her parents were more down-to-earth. One day (before she got her cutie mark) she had enough of it and ran away from her home, only to be struck down by a windigo who had sensed the hatred within her. She was admitted to hospital for the cancer that such a spiritual incursion caused, and for a few days all hope seemed lost, even with a treatment of paclitaxel.

At the last moment, she found a friend in that windigo, and the resulting fire of friendship they grew between them cured Parcly's cancer. She named that windigo Spindle, herself after the chemotherapeutic drug, and over the following months managed to complete a total synthesis of said drug, which got her a galaxy cutie mark. Once that happened, she was discovered and then coached by Princess Luna, eventually becoming a princess just like Twilight under Celestia.

She made herself a genie willingly after reading about their stories, and soon devised spells to transform into any creature she wanted.

Parcly also has a relationship with Twilight Sparkle, after Luna introduced the two small then-unicorns to each other.
