Some threats transcend the boundaries of Legion bonds and memberships, and as is so often the case, these threats go ignored. Political strife, inter-Legion conflicts and operations, and diplomatic niceties provide shiny distractions that keep otherwise capable forces from facing the real enemy - and at a time when that number of real enemies keep growing throughout Tyria, stalwart defenders that stand against them are few and far between.

Former bandmates called his quest an obsession, but Thanatos considers it his calling, his duty. Skirmishes and battles with the ghosts of Ascalon are a reality for any charr of the Black Citadel, but for Thanatos, it is a ceaseless war. The dead are a threat to the living, and they must be eliminated at any cost, routed wherever they are found, and beaten back into the dark void that spawned them.

There isn't an undead turning trinket he hasn't tested, a ritual of exorcism he hasn't learned, or a dark, forbidden art he hasn't dabbled in to achieve his goals. What time isn't spent waging his war or exposing himself to further methods of ghostly eradication is spent in research, fruitful labours punctured by drunken stupours (or worse), blackouts being the only solace from the knowledge he carries, the knowledge that the dead are always coming, and always seeking ways to take from the living.

Gruff, unwavering and driven (and, some may say, broken) by a singular purpose, Thanatos is a charr of few words and fewer manners. His unyielding commitment to the eradication of the dead that walk the world of the living have cost him his warband, his friends and his standing...and yet when an undying threat rears its head, they come to him. And he always complies and provides his experience. Damn the Legions and damn the Orders, but more importantly, damn the dead.
