As a loyal and devoted soldier of the Flame Legion, Xarvik long served to the best of his ability as a capable warrior. During the siege of the Flame Citadel by Pact forces, Xarvik stood proudly with his brethren, and like many of them, was defeated in battle. His story, however, was not set to end on that day.

As he lay dying on the battlefield, he was found by Sylvari Pact soldiers who, despite being ordered to dispose of wounded Flame Charr, chose instead to scurry him away to safety, no doubt in a naive bid to convince him of the error of his ways, and to turn him to a different path. Xarvik was brought secretly to the Grove, the birthsite of the Sylvari, where he would be given a safe place to recover and heal.

Badly wounded and feverish, Xarvik would, by some unknown force, come into contact with the spirit of the Legendary centaur, Ventari, who taught to the rescued Flame charr the teachings of Ventari's Tablet. Though Xarvik had been brought, unconscious and gravely ill, to the Grove as an ardent supporter of the Flame Legion and a staunch opponent of any non-Flame Charr and non-Charr race, he awoke with different albeit conflicting ideals.

Devoting himself to Ventari's teachings during his time at the Grove, Xarvik would eventually return to Ascalon and, with the spirit of the centaur still providing guidance, would set about on his new quest to restore the land of his ancestral home, ravaged by war, and heal the divisions that continue to exist between his kin and their divided Legions.

Whether or not peace can ever be forged between the united High Legions of Blood, Ash and Iron and Xarvik's own Flame Legion remains to be seen, but whatever the outcome, Xarvik will remain at the forefront of the effort to see such peace come to pass.
