Styx is an alligator that died from exposure to toxins leaking from the rocks at the bed of the river that he lived in. He was reanimated by a witch doctor named Zoad (zoh-ahd) who sought to use him as a personal servant, but later took him as a close friend. After his rebirth, Styx became obsessed with all forms of magic and has extensively studied voodoo under the witch doctor. After Zoad's death, Styx left the bayou he and the shaman had lived in to study other forms of magic. He's practiced in many parts of the world learning everything from black magic to faith healing. Now living in Southern Whales, he studies magic under a descendant of the great wizard Merlin.
