Leo being the young prince of the shadow dragon clan wanted a mate to rule over his race with him but he wasn't entrusted in any of the females in his clan he had his eye on the princes of the light dragon clan who roamed Avalar.

But she would reject his offer many times knowing there clans would not mix well and the fact that he was pure evil with bad intentions and she was already in love with a young male for the ice dragon clan.

Leo was angry and bitter about being rejected but he despised the young lower ranking ice dragon, years later when his father died from old age Leo took over as alpha male and king of the shadow dragons.

And he stormed the land of Avalar on the day where an eclipse was going on witch made him and his clan even stronger.

His clan slaughtered the light dragon clan and Leo him self killed the ice dragon male but Leo had no desire for the light dragon queen his heart was black with bitterness and evil.

So he tried to smash her egg but the light queen put up a good fight an escaped with deadly wounds from that day he swore he would find that young dragon and kill her ant take over Avalar.

But later on he found a poison dragoness and had a son and named him Night Shade.

Powers

Leo gets his energy and power from fear the more he scares another the stronger he gets, he as purple flames and can use echo location to find where his pray is hiding.

He can also get in to others heads and make them hallucinate.
