This is Mikael, my male sphinx character, and one of my favorite OCs.
Born near the end of the Ancient Egyptian dynastic period, he has spent most of his life guarding bridges, passageways, and other peoples' treasure. He does this in the normal sphinx fashion: by presenting the traveler with a riddle. Those who answer correctly get to pass him without incident. Those who answer wrong are given the choice to sleep with him or be consumed. After he is done with them they are allowed to leave the way they came. Those who try to cheat or attack him are either driven off or killed and eaten.

When not guarding things, he lives a semi-hedonistic lifestyle, indulging in fine jewelry, perfumes, wine, and other things. Perhaps his only redeeming quality is that when a child crosses his path, he grants them safe passage, whether they answer his riddle correctly or not.
