History:
Thalael was born to an equally haughty family who were some of the nobility of their outcast tribe, Lauvian. Thalael grew up getting what he wanted. The first time his parents found out about the Blue Half parasite existing in him was when he got frustrated over a small clique of younglings refusing to let him into their game. Thalael clawed them both, even catching one in the eye, and his parents payed a good chunk of money to the parents of the children Truthcaller had wounded. Blackmoon and Nightcall, Thalael's mother and father respectively, visited many priests of a number of the Hundred Gods trying to find someone who knew if there was anyone who knew about a way to get rid of the Blue Half. When at last they concluded there was no solution, Thalael got told the awful details of what had happened to those with the Half and how he had to try to avoid it showing itself, the fledgling reigned in his pride and became more timid and worried, trying to avoid any tense situation for fear of getting others killed or getting himself killed.
Before he was full grown, a war began between a nearby kingdom and Lauvian. The warriors were sent out to the battlefront under command of the serpent Captain Saltscales, including Thalael's father, Blackmoon. The noblefolk of Lauvian were sent out on one ship with any extra ordinary folk the ship could carry. Thalael's mother, Nightcall, was sent on the same ship as he and his sister Skyshadow to keep an eye on both him and his younger sister. However, when Thalael started to wander the ship and angered another on the boat. The Blue Half became active for the first time in years, and the other nobleman was strong enough to be a match for Truthcaller with the active Half. However, during the fight, Thalael knocked a candle off of a table and onto the deck, where it caught on one of the spilled glasses of rum and the trail of fire flowed down and caught on one of the barrels of gunpowder.
The ship exploded, killing almost everyone on it. Most of those it didn't kill likely drowned or got washed up on shore somewhere and started a new life. Thalael was unfortunate enough to visibly see that his mother had been killed, and he couldn't find his sister when he searched for her.
Weak from the Blue Half using his energy in the fight and wings too waterlogged to fly, Truthcaller crawled onto a chunk of the burned wood and drifted until he wasn't soaked and had regained energy enough to fly when land was within eyesight. It was in the small city here that his father arrived a month later from the fight, asking for his mother and sister. Truthcaller, still ashamed of giving in to the Blue Half, only told him the storm had ruined the ship and neither got out alive.
Heartbroken, Blackmoon was despondent for weeks and quiet for a long time after that, but remained there for Truthcaller, raising him and teaching him how to hunt now that he was old enough to even string a shortbow while flying. However, Blackmoon didn't have much to speak of at the time due to the loss of his mate and daughter, so Thalael went out exploring. It was during this time that he ran into Bloodbone hunting with his wolf pack. Once the hunt was completed, Bloodbone turned around and went lumbering back to where Thalael had been. Bloodbone, as a wolf who lived in a nearly completely wolf pack, both had things to share about the other's lifestyle and met at first with only that to talk about, but slowly growing closer as friends. Later, both companions ran across Netis Moonwhisper, lurking on the edges of her tribe territory as a social outcast. Although Bloodbone didn't have enough time away from his own pack to devote to two outsider friends, Thalael met with both, becoming Moonwhisper's only friend.
After Moonwhisper's tribe turned on her for her necromantic powers, she gave Thalael the cat-tooth necklace she made from when she killed her first enemy, a bobcat from another tribe, out of its teeth. Moonwhisper fled to the Forbidden Forest to seek alliance or aid from "Forsaken"(Spiritblinder), the necromancer dreaded for centuries in that stretch of foggy forest.
For several years Thalael didn't see Moonwhisper once again. Thalael's father recovered, though, and father and son spent more time together between Truthcaller's visits with Bloodbone. However, when Blackmoon and Thalael went hunting and saw a bear rear up and roar from the woods not far from the borders of a bear tribe, Blackmoon panicked and encouraged Thalael to shoot it, which he did. After three arrows from both of the crows, the bear went down.
When the two approached the body, the necromancer from the Forbidden Forest emerged. Outraged, Spiritblinder killed Blackmoon with his dagger of silver fire, but couldn't catch Thalael after he flew into the air. Thalael recovered from his father's death with support from Bloodbone and a select few members of the wolf's pack, and spent more and more time trailing the wolf pack and eating from the carcasses after they all finished their share from the hunts.
Fifteen years later, however, Thalael and Bloodbone wandered off on their own and ended up in the Forbidden Forest. Spiritblinder located them easily with the magic alarms he'd set up, and Bloodbone faced Moonwhisper when she appeared to stop them. Moonwhisper killed Bloodbone with a bite to the throat, but Spiritblinder was waiting for Truthcaller and dragged him down from the sky when he tried to take off.
Moonwhisper interfered before Spiritblinder could kill Thalael, the only thing she could offer to her old friend. Spiritblinder agreed, but ordered Thalael to look for a black wolf with eyes like the sun and bring it back to him. Quote, "if he is lucky, you will die before he does."
Thalael searched for this wolf for five years, checking the futures, until at last he Saw one in the Tribe of Arrows Swift, young, but one he intended to keep his eyes on until he could use him for what he needed.
