History:

For reasons unknown, Kate's parents died when she was barely over a year, and has since been traveling through London on her own, trying to force herself to find some kind of happiness after the fact. On her travels, she stumbled upon the Dearly Farm, where Pongo and Perdita moved after adopting 84 puppies to raise along with their 15.

She befriended the Dearly Dalmatians and started to look up to Pongo and Perdita as role models, and, though they liked her, Kate never explained to them where she came from nor why she was wondering by herself.

One rainy night, Pongo and Perdita spotted Kate running off somewhere, crying. Concerned, they went after her and they tried to understand why she was so upset. She was barely able to mutter out, "My parents," and, at first misunderstanding, the Pongos started to look around, thinking her parents had hurt her. It took a few more seconds before Kate could explain that they hadn't hurt her, but that they died. After that night, Pongo and Perdita took Kate in.

One day, Kate was helping Perdita with chores and accidently called her "Mom," and, since then, asked if she could call Pongo and Perdita her parents. She has been their official adopted daughter.

She sometimes has days when she feels out of place, being the only Dalmatian in the family that's a teenager, but she knows she's loved and doesn't ask for much more. She became a devoted puppy-sitter to her brothers and sisters, and she is still young enough herself that she'll let the pups have more fun than they always should.

It is interesting how you nail the Disney style but still make the character different enough to stick out on his own, that does take some talent ;)

However I just noticed that past her chest, her waist is extremely skinny, you should bring that more forward, because now it looks a little like she wore a very tight corset for who knows how long ^^'

      Besides that, it's good!

        Thank you!

She looks a little disproportional in this picture (shoulders, chest and front legs are too thick for the 101 Dal. style), but she's supposed to be skinny; I modeled her after Pongo and Perdita and they're exceptionally skinny.

Yeah Gk was telling me you just followed the style of Disney more then the real animal. I've just always been a little puzzled about Disney's style and how sometimes they jsut throw anatomy out the window for whatever reasons they might have.

It's one thing to be inspired by them but you should focus more on the actual animal, then it won't look as off.

You don't need to listen to me but I can assure you it is only to help you out ;D

yeah, I made the mistake of learning how to draw by tracing/studying screenshots from Disney, Don Bluth and other animated movies; it's only recently that I started studying real anatomy--mostly because I was more concerned with getting facial expressions right rather than anatomy, but nowadays I realize both are important.

Depending on the style of the movie they're going for, Disney will usually incorporate enough anatomy to make a character look plausible, but it's usually very exaggerated for the sake of visual style or character movement (like Pongo and Perdy are waaay too thin, and a lot of the Disney princesses are disproportional, and of course there's Jessica Rabbit). It's not always "right," anatomically speaking, but's plausible enough that it doesn't look "wrong,"--which I'm still trying to work with, but it's a process. :3

At least you know what matters ;)
