I made this kid to be a friend for Orin. Their communities are against each other and because they share a sacred land together, tensions can run high and cause friction between the two groups. There are two peaks on the mountain these groups are forced to share, with the mines Orin's kind live in on one side, and a more open and crevasse-like area on the other end of the mountain where these guys live.
They are more out in the open and constantly burn herbs and incense, chant and dance around fires and collect animal bones and feathers for their effigies, that are made to resemble evil spirits or those they plan to curse before burning.

Every so often, on a special day once a year, a young one of each tribe are elected to go up the mountain side with an offering for their respective gods. The shrines actually face each other from one peak to the other and a bridge used to connect the shrines but was destroyed during fighting between both groups in the distant past.
Orin's kind take up something like jewellery they craft, whilst Atheer's kind take up a home-made doll, often of someone who has recently passed away. Orin's kind pray for bounty for the land and for fertility (because the birth rate success is fairly low for their kind), and Atheer's kind pray for the safe passage of departed souls and protection from illness (since their end of the mountain is prone to diseases brought in from the wilds by animals and travelers)

It's very, very rare that two young ones are sent up the mountain from both groups at the same time, but that's what happened, and it's how the two meet. Since Orin is so nervous and clumsy, Atheer takes it on themselves to help Orin out, and eventually the two get to the top where they need to be to leave their offerings. They continue to meet but have to do so in secret because the hostility between both groups is still high.
