Max was born in the rural south, in a small town called Barton Hollow, Georgia. Born and raised his entire life in a destructive Baptist cult, Max was raised to be a wolf killer. One could say he's THE wolf killer, as he's slated to take over the leadership of the cult from his father, John.
Max travels around, selling his service as a traveling preacher, but using it all the while as a cover for his real task, which is wiping out the "scourge" of werewolves that plagues the nation, as he was supposedly ordained to do so by God.
This all changes, however, when he meets Miles, a werewolf whom goes against everything Max has ever been taught. Despite himself, he starts to grow close to Miles, and eventually falls in love with him, rejecting his past and the cult that he was born into.
