Known as the Sage of the Sea, Amalya's womb fills with one whale calf per day, and due to this she often becomes sea bound in a matter of days. In order to give birth, she must make a yearly pilgrimage to a foreign chapel; If she's able to reach the chapel at her given size, then her people see it as a day of luck and prosperity. If not, then her womb will double in size over the next year as she resigns herself to maintaining her new size before eventually birthing her calves at some point in time the next year.

The realm of Aicana is primarily composed of deep, deep oceans, shallow islands and floating islands known as 'Aerolithic Sanctuaries.' These places are inhabited by an avian people, commonly respected for their immense knowledge and limited appearances among the common people of the islands. At the center of the world is a large mainland known as 'Lithiero,' the center of which is a grand battlefield. At the corners of this mainland, four citadels sit, each one to it's people. Northeast, Aquacia, the home of the Sage of the Sea, and living place for the aquatic peoples of Aicana. Northwest, Barbaria, home of more humanoid races, and kingdom of the Sage of Earth. To the Southeast, Aericia, home of the Sage of the Sky and living place to the people of the Sky. And finally, to the Southwest, the Forbidden Kingdom. Home to wizards and the nigh-forgotten Sage of Exous. The kingdom's streets stay empty and an eternal gloom hangs over the area. If someone is exiled, they are sent here and promptly disappear without a trace. The grounds of this kingdom are often littered with demons and other creatures, but these things often bring treasures with them; This area is often sought to be raided by treasure hunters.

Aicana has long been the place of many, many wars. The Sage of Exous vowed himself to ending the conflict and promptly disappeared with all of his people. The kingdoms of Barbaria and Aericia saw this as an opportunity and sent their armies to try to annex the kingdom, but were promptly decimated. The kingdom of Aquacia threatened the other kingdoms with a full-force military takeover if any other attempts at conflict were made, thus ending the long years of war and forging the first steps to peace. An uneasy one, albeit, but peace nonetheless. A new civilization is now being forged known as Alchemia, in which members from all 3 of the living kingdoms may live in comfort.

Each kingdom is ruled by a Sage, who's job is simply to commune with God for advice on ruling their kingdoms and asking for blessings for the crops and several other things. Some bear a burden, like the Sage of the Sea having a nearly infinite pregnancy, and some do not fulfill their role as Sage, such as the King of Barbaria, whom ordered his chapel burned to the ground. The Sage of the Sky is charged with healing the people's ailments and helping transport people and things from one place to another. The Sage of Exous is assumed to fulfil his role, because on December 24th of each year, which is Communion Day(equivalent of Christmas), the Kingdom of Exous lights up and the demons in the land disappear, but return the next day. Each Sage has a divine scepter as a symbol of their leadership and power; These staves can allow use of magic even among the nonmagical races of the Sky and Sea(Barbaria is known for its wizards).

Amalya came into power after her predecessor being assassinated by a member of the court of Barbaria. This action caused the disappearance of the Kingdom of Exous' people, by giving incentive for the Sage of Exous to swear himself to peace.
