NV - The Key to the City

The Apex Corporation routinely recruits the galaxy's best to fight as part of their private security force. To that end, they created their own new hire: NV.

The second of two "Synths" engineered in Apex labs, and the result of the company's CEO forcibly resuming the project after it was shut down due to how the first Synth turned out.

NV is primarily comprised of a nanomachine-laden gel that he can bend to his will. This material is housed in a damage resistant bodysuit. NV does not really have a brain, he "is" the gel, or rather, the countless machines that make it up. Out of everyone at Apex, and assumedly the entire galaxy, NV is the most talented hacker available, frequently providing support for other Apex operatives, especially those who are less familiar with electronics, like Rook.

Not known to many, NV controls the majority of Aria City, manipulating traffic, security systems, emergency services, and managing its population. He is perhaps best known for managing Apex's Public Relations department, and is the friendly face most Aria City citizens think of when they think of Apex, making frequent appearances at conferences and presentations. He is a frequent target for assassination amongst those who know of his role in governing the city.

The real reason for NV's technological emphasis is because Apex lost control of NV's "older brother", and they sought to exert more control over their next Synth with machines. Because of this, NV is fiercely loyal to Apex and will do as they ask without hesitation. If for some reason he were to be manipulated, Apex is prepared to destroy NV's body remotely, and anyone around it, at a moment's notice. In the event of his demise in all other situations, all resources are diverted to sending the last known copy of his consciousness to Apex HQ.

Personality wise, NV is detached. He can emote and project images from the various points in his body where the gel shows, and also attack this way, usually by projecting an extremely hot 'whip' like appendage from his face, or firing kinetic blasts from his palms. The gel does not need the 'suit' in order to function, and does not need to assume humanoid form. He has a thing for mimicry, for example, using the imitation of a target's voice to fake a phone call, or more light-heartedly using it in an attempt to blend in or relate to visitors.

The origin of his name is uncertain, but rumors point either to the NV-Neuron: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nv_network Or to a less plausible story in which, when he was first manufactured, he lacked a discernible figure or genitalia. The story goes, he began to have a mental breakdown until he was given the body we know as NV today. (IE, Envy was his first emotion)
