Hashmal likes to pretend that he has a thick skin, but in actuality all of Cappella's insults are like another wound upon his body. Which is why he tends to stay away from her. He suffers from depression, and in turn this affects his weight. He fears that everyone judges him for being a fringe dire and tries to stay out of the public eye in order to escape said judgement and feelings of guilt.

He constantly feels like a burden to Haylyn for arriving at such a bad time and not helping her out more. He blames himself for the death of Spider and Reve, and constantly struggles with this. He usually shuts people out, or down if they wish to know more about him personally or his past, but can sort of confide to Haylyn, but only on certain subjects. He prides himself of being a truthful and useful son.

He would prefer to be on his own and has a strong affinity to the winter time though his depression is usually worse at this time, during the summer he becomes as equally introverted and hides away from the crowds. He is easy to upset, but he usually just cries or runs away, he'd like to learn how to be more brave, but finds this to be an almost impossible goal to reach.

Since being in Eschaton, Hashmal is far more jumpy and flinchy, which could mean he is developing PTSD because of all the crazy stuff that went on, he has vicious flashbacks and very lucid dreams that feel so surreal to him, night terrors and such. He'll become sort of an insomniac, he is very neurotic and does not openly welcome change. If people want him to try something new they will have to force him and then stick to the schedule.
