Background History:

Viryn was born on Cirpitine, the Capital of Palaven, on November 1st 2155 (Earth Equivalent). Due to her mother being close to together with being exposed to Element Zero, Viryn was destined to gain biotic abilities as the gradual exposure went on. Upon her birth they had no idea or expected that she was going to end up being a biotic, something her family unfortunately despised. They were convinced Viryn, their second born child, was going to be perfect, the idol of the future turian. That was all ruined when day, three months after her 4th birthday she ended up accidentally destroying a valuable family heirloom with biotics while she was playing with her older sister. Her parents were in complete denial, their perfect daughter as a biotic? To them it was barbaric, impossible. Stupidly enough in their minds, they didn’t think working with eezo would affect their child but clearly they were wrong. Almost within a week the Corei family no longer had two daughters, only one. Even though they wanted to be rid of her, her Mother and Father had her sent to an orphanage which was close enough to spy on, while also changing her true name from Vicril Corei to Viryn Corellix. They bribed the house mother to make Viryn have no form of contact with the family or even mention it around her. They told the mother to try to brainwash the young turian to think biotics are something like a curse the spirits placed upon her in hopes to break her against her own abilities so one day they might take her back into the household. However, Viryns older sister, Emsa, left her with an extremely valuable piece of family jewellery; a bracelet which contains rare stones; something beautiful that Viryn would treasure forever without knowing why she does or who it belonged to.

Growing up for the first few years weren’t very hard in the orphanage, at first, for Viryn. She was happy, had plenty of friends. Mostly because she hid her biotic potential from the others due to the house mothers manipulation. Slowly but surely, the child turian was being convinced that she was cursed and doomed to live with a horrible condition. This also caused her personal confidence to lower, calling herself a freak. This all changed when a certain member of the military visited the orphanage in the year 2164; a Spectre. The turian was sent there to encourage as well as inspire the young turians to want to become part of the military when they become of age for their choices to dedicate themselves to the hierarchy. This particular Spectre was a biotic too. He created demonstrations of his abilities, announcing that they were completely normal for certain turians as if they were more of a gift more than anything. A fire began to burn in her eye towards this turian; the inspiration from him had created a passion in her to want to become a biotic Spectre, like him, when she was an adult too. Viryn talked with this Spectre privately, srevealing her abilities to him and only him, proceeding to as for biotic tips. He was surprisingly co-operative with her and ended up actually giving her some handy tips before leaving due to an emergency. Not long after his departure Viryn began to question why the house mother said they were a bad, destructive thing. The Spectre had told all the children that his biotics helped him win fights; protect others as well as other things which he avoided due to the violent subject. Viryn automatically took all this data to mind and wiped everything the house mother told her out of her head. Even though Viryn was young, she knew something was up and began to ignore all the ‘teachings’ of biotics she once knew to be the ‘truth’. A week later she got in a fight with a group of boys, she used her biotics to push them away in defence but ended up using too much power, resulting in her spraining and even breaking some of their bones. From that day forward, Viryn was feared and severely bullied. She was called names, pushed around and abandoned by everyone that used to be her friends beforehand. As a result of the incident she was strictly lectured about not using biotics at all around the building or she would be punished with a very specific punishment; be locked in an enclosed room/closet for hours on end until she learned her lesson.

In the year 2168 Viryn was taken in by the military to be assessed due to her biotic potential. The spectre that once visited the orphanage notified the hierarchy of her abilities. After the 3 years of training and assessments Viryn was eventually placed into the Cabal faction. Being placed into the Cabals felt like a sort of honour to her as her idol, the Spectre, went through the same training. Hopeful, Viryn tried to make friends when the she and the other students had free time. It wasn’t easy for her since she was put into this training by yourself with no friends to accompany you. For the first five months Viryn eventually became bored out of her mind before discovering her peaked interest in Toxicology. The dangers but also the fun that would go into it grabbed her attention; the prize would be something unique and drive her for years to come. From there on out, Viryn took that as her hobby during the training. Taking her time to read, research and practice this unusual subject. Three years in Viryn was nigh on the level of creating things from weak poisons to toxins. Because of her insane interest to this hobby Viryn was known as the ‘Toxicity’ to the students, but that didn’t matter to her, she didn’t care. She was alone; she didn’t want to be friends with people like them. Unbeknownst to her, a fellow turian took interest in her advanced knowledge in a specific subject. This turian worked his way around Viryn, manipulating her with her desperation for some sort of friend and love, which she hid well but it was pretty obvious once you got to know her on a personal level. One day during their break in training, Viryn foolishly took her ‘friend’ to the lab where she works. It was a special lab that the military had for students who wanted to become medical combat technicians, practicing medicine etc. During the visit this turian stole from her and the lab. Stealing veils of poison as well as Viryns trust. In the end he got her framed for two cases of murder as she is one of the only students to really study in that section. Despite both cases being solved, the events that came afterwards took down and destroyed her trust for people whom she thought would be forever.

Graduating in 2176, Viryn was transferred to the planet Oma Ker due to rebellious behaviour and uncontrollable attitude. Here she meets the turian Epiren, a male turian who she inched towards through curiosity. Their closeness grew slowly but surely, becoming good friends in due time. They had fun times together; drinking, partying, and getting into trouble while drunk. Those years with him were the first few legitimately happy months of her life. They even shortly spent the night with one another, Epi being her first. She flustered greatly by what they had done but they professionally and calmly settled the situation. This was another thing that she treasured Epi for. But their friendship is rudely interrupted by Viryn receiving a ‘critical solo mission’ notification on her omni tool. Due to her being sent to do that solo mission, she didn’t say goodbye as she didn’t expect it to be their last goodbye for years to come. She was sent to an abandoned communication station on the edge of council space. During her advance through the station, she shortly became paranoid. It was too quiet, so damn easy with no one around. Little did she know this was a trap set up by her family, specifically her parents. Since they kept an eye on her for years, watched her progress and take the route in life that was the direct opposite of what they wanted to be related to their bloodline. They could easily find corruptible members in the military to create a fake message to trick Viryn into a trap; a dozen armed mercenaries ready to kill her once she reaches her end. A male turian with orange markings stood in the middle, talking via Omni tool to Viryns parents. He was discussing a little too loudly, loud enough for Viryn to hear. She became alert to the person ahead, her shotgun ready along with her biotics, she burst the door open and all hell broke loose in that one room. When she realised, everyone but her as well as the leader were alive. He was at her mercy. In a fit of anger, she unleased her rage upon him. Breaking his bones, taking one of the killed mercs flamers and burning the entirety of the side of his face to a crisp… but she left him alive. She wanted him to be an example to those who tried to fuck with her. In the end, she felt betrayed by the military and hierarchy. She left the lone merc on the ship she took, setting it to drift into space and back to Oma Ker, with a lovely message telling them that she’d rather die on a crashing station than to come back. While she took the Mercs ship, shot down the station along with putting a merc in her armour while she remained in theirs, disappearing into space.

Two months after Viryn was classed as KIA (but shortly revoked as MIA as they simply did a DNA test on what was left of the corpses on the bodies), Viryn found herself on the verge of death. She had no more food, no more money or any credits to survive on. She was forced to take refuge on the closest cluster and planet, which happened to be the Drell and Hanar home world; Kahje. They found her in terrible condition; she begged them under any circumstance not to let the hierarchy know where she was. Luckily they didn’t, allowing her to come back to health without the stress of knowing the people from that disgusting place will be coming for her. Even though she was grateful to the Hanar and Drell for saving her, her ability to trust was severely torn. She didn’t talk to anyone no matter what they did until a young Drell woman, who was a year younger than her, came in for a therapy session with her. Luckily for the Drell, she happened to be carrying some test tubes with liquids in them. Something like that caught her attention. To her lack of knowledge, she found a colony that experimented on the toxins in drells skins, how they could be used for medical purposes etc. Viryn was practically in heaven at this point, watching and learning about the drell, alien toxins and alien medicines, even a learning some of the Drell and Hanar language. She quickly opened up as time went on, specifically the female Drell she first met with the test tubes. Though, once again this was a moment in her life that was too good to be true. As much as she loved being on Kahje, she couldn’t stay and risk being seen by someone who could find out her identity. She was pushing her luck as it was. In the year 2180, she left Kahje in distraught for herself and her friends. Her heart broken by her own hands. This became her tipping point; she couldn’t trust or be friends with anyone anymore. She’s better off alone. She had heard of a place that would be fitting for that sort of thing, a place that is just as cruel as the world she knows now; Omega.

Months later after arriving on Omega, she found that she could make money by entering illegal right clubs for money. Dirty fighting, selling drugs. Terrible things, she knew this. She had no other choice until she could have a stable enough income. One day however, during an underground fight club, she noticed a woman being assaulted by an older male batarian. Disgusting creatures she thought. When the batarian took the weaker females arm and began to drag her out she felt rage like nothing she’s felt before. Knocking the competition in one blow, she came to the rescue of the stranger, punching and knocking him out too. Before she knew it, that one choice created a fight within the whole place. Viryn made sure that the stranger got out the way by biotically pushing her to the exit. She shortly walked out the place, beaten to a pulp. She ensured that the stranger was okay, checking them and asking them how they were. Thankfully they were okay. For the first time, she gave a sigh of relief. This feeling again was strange to her. She doesn’t trust people but she just helped a random Omega citizen. The two parted ways, Viryn making her way home to an apartment close to Afterlife. She had the time to see how Omega truly was. It was riddled with those who prey on the weak. The stronger always prevailed. She knew how that felt long ago, the bullying, being taken advantage of she was so sick of seeing the same thing happen over and over again. Her anger became too much towards everything she’s been through. So she decided she’d break that feeling; become stronger and defend the weak, protect those who cannot fight back and someday make a difference in the hellhole known as Omega.

In the present year of 2184, Viryn now lives a life of continued mistrust in anyone she meets but helps those in need. She creates professional level medicines but sells them at an affordable and sometimes negotiable price for those in desperate need. Many have tried to take advantage of Viryns kindness, but she is not easily tricked. Her trust issues became somewhat of a lying detector. She has never given the wrong people what they do not deserve. Though, she now does take advantage of those same wrong people. She perfected her technique in creating deadly poisons from her beloved pet snakes. She had a growing fondness for them and now while acting as a great personal companion, they supply handy poisons for her to use. Selling these ‘specialty items’ for extremely high prices, she takes from those who she knows won’t miss being over charged a few thousand credits. If it gets the job done, she gets paid generously. For that reason, to her it is a fair game.
