What everyone believes…

Hecerion Velarauthon of Turithe is dead, and has been for almost three centuries. He was the firstborn son of Olinar, the patron of House Velarauthon, and his wife, Erisie, the lone daughter of House Limdareth. It was noted by the family’s physician that, since early childhood, Hecerion suffered from an imbalance of the humors that caused violent fits, during which he would cause himself physical harm. By the time he was sixteen, his illness robbed him of his mental faculties, after which he took his own life by running into the ocean during a storm, where he was believed to have drowned.

The truth…

Veceroth—formerly Hecerion Velarauthon of Turithe—did not die, but staged his death at sixteen years old in order to escape his high-profile life, and the abuse that he suffered at the hands of his mother under the guise of a fictional illness. He was not the firstborn son of Olinar Velarauthon. His father was a metalsmith, with whom his mother had an affair while Olinar was overseas. Because of the circumstances surrounding his birth—in accordance with the ‘superstitions’ of his culture—he was not born a normal child.

He was a Nirelu (‘half-alive’), one whose soul shares their body with a reaper. This gave him supernatural abilities that would give religious fanatics reason to track him down and kill him.
Three hundred years later, Veceroth lives on the road, having gained an infamous reputation as a demon agent with no allegiance. Though not entirely true, it is also rumored that he is nearly impossible to kill due to his supernatural gifts. He has hundreds of mercenaries and contacts all over the Fär'ceimean province, but hunters still pursue him to this very day.
