Hotaru was in fact a youngster into skateboarding the day the meteors had struck; (Going by female pronouns mostly - but is in fact genderqueer) She was showing off her skating moves to a couple of friends and attempting to impress a girl in specific when she was struck by meteor in which mostly resembled a lightning strike and transforming into the elemental girl of lightning.

Hotaru enjoys the ideas of super speed through her boarding.
