Sshkisk, named for the hissing aggressive reaction to hatching beneath the corpse of a slave who had attempted to smuggle the yet-born dragon from the dystopian city for being a bastardized slave child, was taken in by the leader of a revolution movement in the post-apocalyptic world. Given as a sacrifice to attain immortality and dragon forms they claimed were their "rightful skins", the Amberclaw threw a bountiful world into the furnace and gave all those living on its surface to an unholy ritual. When they were reborn as twisted monstrosities that struck fear even into the hearts of the dragon kind on their world, they asserted dominion over what remained of the world with a wretched power that none could oppose.

Taken as his protege, Sshkisk, or "Garrote", began learning how and why to kill for the revolution movement. Knowing only the servitude as blade does a hand, he unquestioningly served, carrying out missions and assassinations to slowly siphon control of the dystopian city into the revolt's hands. Until meeting Taernyll, he never once questioned what he stood for or his prowess as a killer. Having almost met his own death at the hands of the magic that the blue dragon employed, he stalked Taernyll, who had already developed a chaotic and unpredictable capability; acting on dignity at times, and then violence others without a noticeable rhyme or reason. He allowed Taernyll to his own mechanics, believing he was of indirect use to the rebellion swelling, even without him knowing.
