Raindancer and Sapphire Singer were well known as a couple in Dream Castle for a very long time. For a lengthy snippet of Equestrian History, their lives were happy and good. Not by any means perfect, but they lived a good life indeed. Until they died, that is.

It happened quicker than the two ponies could react; during a vacation when they were supposed to be happiest as can be, relaxed and carefree. The gigantic boulder that crushed the poor couple did not agree, evidently, as it flew down a cliff right onto the unsuspecting Raindancer. Her husband had no time to stop it, even with a strong set of wings as his; he only had time to bolt to his wife’s side and look into her sparkling gemstone eyes before all went black.
A couple of Dream Castle friends stared in horror at the huge rock that lay on top of the bodies of their two castle-mates. Tears flowed from the soft gaze of Posey, a startling, shrill yelp worming its way out of Cherries Jubilee’s throat. The only thing that stopped their grief was a friendly voice. “What’s everypony crying about?”

The two little ponies peeked in the direction of the voice. Before them stood what could only be described as a conglomeration of the two friends that had just lost their lives. A short, purple pegasus with the gleaming twinkle eyes of their mother and the soft, fluffy hooves of their father blinked in confusion. From their lips protruded two sharp fangs, and all over their body were caricatures of gorgeous sapphires and glaring skulls. Cherries Jubilee gasped. “Did Sapphire and Raindancer FUSE?”
The big foal curiously tilted their head. “We have to take them home,” Posey said quickly, “I believe that Majesty may be able to answer for this.”

And answer Majesty did, confirming that the new pegasus was a result of the two lovers’ simotanious deaths. “This is a ghost of both of their spirits,” Majesty declared, “And so I feel that it is appropriate that we christen this little pony with both of their parents’ names. Welcome to Dream Castle, Sapphire Rain.”
