Eva

Gunner Rotthbauer

Name:
Eva
Age:
??
Gender:
Female
Species:
Leopard Seal

At nearly twelve feet long from snout to tail, Eva is an astounding sight to behold. Blunt snouted and ultramarine eyed - the intimidation her immensity poses is hardly warranted. She is a kind, speckle-spotted row boat sized water dweller with a curiosity that rivals her appetite for marine cuisine. A speedy swimmer, she has surprised many a stranded raft or small fishing vessel by surfacing alongside them for a chat - even keeping pace with most of them going full tilt.

Originally drifting in from chilly Antarctic waters, Eva found herself fascinated with a bout of explorers and research scientists who frequented the shorelines she hunted across. Unlike the hosts of the steel-bellied titans that hauling supplies and or sinister net-toting skippers that frequented the ivory shores, they were more than happy to chat with her. A lovely departure from the honk-squawks of the penguins that had been her previous company. In return she was more than happy to permit them to strap a camera to her - or brave the depths alongside her by clutching a flipper. The dual birth marks alongside her eyes have been a point of curiosity among oceanographers and biologists alike – but she was unaware of them until they were brought to her attention and often fails to acknowledge them at all. Eventually though - the harshness of winter drove land-dwelling acquaintances inland or off-continent and she was reduced to wandering the briny deep alone once more.

The regale and stories, however, stayed with her. Distant lands and far-flung shores with splendors far in advance of the ivory white of icebergs and coal black shore stones. Golden sand and pleasant tides. She decided she wanted to see them for herself - and come the following spring she pursued a underwater swath of krill to warmer waters along the coast of Argentina; where the locals were as surprised as she to hear the tales were true.

Henceforth she has been merrily swimming the seas, intend to see what wonders lurk among the continental shelves and the darker domains the sea has to offer. If you happen across her however, she is more than inclined to chat with you along the journey. Just be sure you keep mind around her if you're snorkeling; those flippers look awfully like fish fins and there have been a few embarrassing incidents along the way already.
