A student at a magical research institute, Leif is hired to inspect a rune mining site by an army unit. Despite his young age, he has a sarcastic streak, that tends to get him in trouble with his elders, though he definitely has the knowledge to back himself up, most of the time… Leif possesses extensive knowledge on the runes which humans use for manipulating magical power and can hold his own even in a battle.

Defining lines:

“It’s my first day on the job, and we’re already stuck here, in the middle of nowhere. Just great.”

“These runes are a different article... Ways apart from the cheap, mass-produced junk you tend to see. Ah, but then again, no one really knows just how runes are produced in the first place, but hey…”

Mannerisms: Long explanations and merciless observations. Relies on his intelligence, but often chooses the route of least effort.

Backstory: Coming from a rather poor family, he was able to become a scholar in the capital’s institute through sheer talent. Though at the time when the story starts, he hasn’t really gained any bigger recognition either.
