BIOGRAPHY

Birth - 13:
Fusion was 'born' on Kentahl, however Aero and Lumia escaped the planet before she was a year old. The escape was well-planned and the sanctuary offered by the Alterians on Altera itself was pre-arranged by Aero and one of the leaders of the underground. As a result, Fusion grew up in peace and quiet on a homestead that was three hours from the nearest Alterian city. Her childhood was unremarkable. Due to the location of her home and the necessity of her security, Aero hired Alterian tutors to teach Fusion all she would learn in a typical Alterian school. As a young girl, she knew nothing else. However, as she grew older and began to go into the city with her parents, she began to resent the fact that she was kept so far from civilization. This resentment turned into her need to push the boundaries and eventually turned into her rebellious streak with both her mother and father.

She began to wander into the nearby jungle and to the mountains' foothills to the rear of the valley where their home was situated. During her forays into the jungle, she met a young Reptallian called Shadow - consequently the egg daughter of the local tribe's chief, Fang. The two find their way into many sticky situations, eventually causing an unintended unity between Aero, Lumia, and the entirety of Fang's tribe. By the equivalent of 10-year old, Fusion would spend the vast majority of her free time wandering the jungle with Shadow, much to her parents' chagrin and frustration.

When Aero began to work with Section 51, he was invited to Earth to experience the planet's monuments. This was prior to the war with the Ken-Tal and the planet was free of any Ken-Tal influence. The head of Section 51 told him to bring his family along, as they were more than welcome. Though he felt unsettled at the idea of taking Fusion from the safety that Altera offered, he was aware that his work with Section 51 required that he make a few concessions over time. For Fusion, this trip was one that changed her outlook permanently. She instantly fell in love with the planet and the cultures that inhabited it. It was the first time that she had shown or felt interest in a culture beyond the Reptallians. She also grew to enjoy human music, clothing, and entertainment. By the time they returned to Altera, she had enough human-style clothes to last her into the next century - or so Aero claimed. She had also managed to gain several thousands of song files, art files, several computer programs that Aero had assured her he could find a way to make function on her personal console, and human video games.

Even though she was desperate to study human cultures and information on the planet Earth itself, Aero insisted she attend to her own studies first. He also made her assist him in the lab and focus on her chores around and outside of their home, much to Fusion's frustration. Along with Aero's requirements, Lumia also expected her to keep up her studies and continue the hobbies she had prior to visiting Earth. While her obsession never went away, Fusion did settle back into a more normal routine following the month-long trip. Though Aero would often times find her nearby when he was working on something for Section 51 or even when he was speaking with the director(s).

She invited herself along on many trips to Earth after she reached her adolescence, though Aero did not allow her out of his sight for longer than ten minutes at a time. Over the course of these trips, she made friends and kept them by writing to them. These penpals either rose higher in the ranks of Section 51 over time or simply disappeared after leaving the agency.

Ages 14 - 18:
Well into her adolescence, Fusion had little interest in her studies. She often daydreamed instead of doing the work set to her - this also occurred when doing her chores around the house. Tutors did not care for her nonchalant, disinterested attitude and were often very vocal about it to her mother. Even with Lumia riding her about her studies, Fusion found herself daydreaming more than she worked. She was bored with life out in the middle of nowhere - not even going into the jungle to see Shadow staved the boredom. It did not help that Shadow was an adult by this time and focused on her responsibilities within the tribe. The Reptallian female no longer had time for adventures or Fusion's silliness.

Eventually, Lumia gave up on Fusion's focus issues and instead started to work with her on studies that would lead to her future interests and possible career. Aero had her working in his lab with him every day as well, settling her into the role of a research assistant. Fusion knew he had no intentions of ever allowing her free rein. As a result, when she discovered that Section 51 had an internship program - through Director Wendy Kim - she went to Lumia.

After listening to her concerns and seeing the excitement in Fusion's eyes, Lumia consigned herself to a barrage of anger from Aero and signed the permission forms that were attached to the application. Fusion spent two weeks working and reworking her application before sending it to Director Wendy Kim of the Midwestern United States offices of Section 51. Out of a field of over 200 applicants, Fusion was chosen as the internship's winner.

Fusion spent several days following her acceptance feeling guilty for going behind Aero's back in the first place. When she had sent it in, she had been certain that her application would be rejected, simply because of her race (though it had guaranteed full consideration disregarding race, creed, or sexual orientation). With the announcement of her being chosen, she realized that she would have to face off against her father - something she had never truly done before. Lumia assured her that she would back her up, no matter what, but Fusion's heart stilled raced whenever she thought about bringing it up to him.

As it turned out, she didn't have to. An agent unwittingly told him in a conversation as Fusion entered the communications area of the house and she backtracked quickly, barely reaching her mother before Aero stormed after her. It was the most furious she had ever seen her father and she suddenly had the realization that he was, in fact, a Ken-Tal male. Lumia was able to force him down, reminding him that he had sworn off instant reactions in anger. The two had a terrible fight and Fusion found herself feeling utterly guilty and more than willing to tell Director Kim that she would not be able to take the internship offered. When she admitted this, Lumia rounded on her and told her that, under no circumstances, was she going to miss the opportunity. The words were directed at both Fusion and Aero.

After the fight, all three of them went their separate ways and Fusion stayed off on her own for a few days. When she tried to approach Aero later on, he ignored her or gave her sharp, short answers to any questions she had. This treatment made her feel worse until she decided it wasn't worth it. Sneaking into the communications room, Fusion called Wendy Kim and told her that she would not be able to take the internship. Director Kim expressed her disappointment but stated that she understood. After ending the call, Fusion slumped to the floor and curled up in a ball, miserable.

Life moved forward from that point on and Fusion never told either of her parents that it had been her decision to turn down the internship. Lumia had asked her when it was to start and Fusion had simply told her that it wasn't. It had been dropped after that.

Two years later, Wendy Kim reached out to Fusion again, asking her if she would like to submit her application once more for the internship at her local office. Before Fusion could refuse, Aero interrupted and asked why they would want Fusion after they had cancelled it the last time. Wendy was shocked and informed Aero that Fusion had refused the internship and she had assumed that he'd deemed it too dangerous for Fusion to go to Earth alone. At this, Fusion wanted to disappear but Aero stopped her from leaving, giving her a hard look before looking at Wendy and telling her that Fusion would be resubmitting her application with both of her parents' signatures this time. The words shocked Fusion but he never explained his change of heart.

She resubmitted her application, a small spark of the excitement she had felt the first time entering her heart and causing her stomach to flutter at the thought of getting to spend a year on Earth without her parents looking over her shoulder constantly. Over the months that followed the submission, she was nervous, jumpy, and excitable. More than once Aero threatened to change his mind if she didn't settle down, but he never did. Once more she was offered the internship and, this time, she took it. Three months later, she found herself on Earth, alone.

For the first time, others were relying on her to do a job and she found that she liked it.
