Perla del Mar is the founder of the del Mar Home for Lost Children in the Oranossian city of Maritown. She took the orphans of the city under her wing after the Great Dragon Typhoon destroyed the coastal area. Before the event, Perla was a swordsoman who travelled along the coastal towns of Oranoss and Terranea, searching for a treasure called the Serpent's Tear. She now wears that stone around her neck as a pendant. Perla is known to be strict in running her orphanage, but the children understand that she only wants to help them. Her adopted brother Rico is often the target of her wrath when she is angry, however...

During her adventures before starting the orphanage, Perla travelled with Bastion Zashchita and Aquaria Samudra. Since the Typhoon, she and Aquaria spend most of their time caring for the children, and Bastion has gone missing. In the past, Perla was a great swordswoman who had fought in many battles in the war between Oranoss and Vulkana. Terrified of the children finding out about her bloody past and losing their trust in her, she never mentions her past as a mercenary; instead, she tells the children about her years as a blacksmith and a sailor.
