Here is a very personal character of mine, Briar Rose (or just Briar for short), though they get saddled with all kinds of names by superstitious villagers and the like. Briar Rose wasn't even their idea, some kid just gave it to them. They're also regularly known under the name Threadspinner.

Briar may look like a very dour creature, but they're actually super friendly and completely harmless. They live in a place very similar to the Black Forest in Germany, a forest with such dense overgrowth that it's basically pitch black. Briar has tasked themselves with creating and maintaining a clear path through these woods- a full circle lined with corn poppies called The Red Path. They wander around this path day after day, year after year helping lost people get their bearings and stealing socks from clotheslines and whatnot. Every village along the path is very isolated, so they all have their own folktales regarding Briar!

Briar themselves is a creature I call a Moirae, based on the moirai or Fates from Greek myth. There are three different subspecies; Clothians, Lachesians, and Atropians. Briar is a Lachesian.
