Personality:

James is a good guy at heart, but he can come off as bitter and standoffish when really he's just afraid. He believes the world is full of culture and individuality and tries to except everyone for this reason. He loves life, he loves to be happy, and he especially loves to make people laugh. Laughter is his strongest weapon and greatest ally, and he uses it often.

Background:

James was born with the name of Amy and the body of a girl. Raised by his father after his parents went through a divorce James found that he really didn't feel like a girl at all shortly after realizing that girls and boys where separate. When James was thirteen he came out to his father. His father accepted him without question, only commenting that he had known all along. His mother, however, wasn't to keen on the idea. None the less Jame's father told him that he would start a fund for James to save up for his transition and any other fees that might come from it as long as James worked hard to keep his grades up. When James was sixteen he got a job on the weekends to pool into his fund. Finally, at the age of twenty, James was able to go through the long process of changing his name and starting hormone treatment. Now James is in college to get his degree.

It happened one night after class. He was making the short walk from his campus back to his apartment when he decided to take his favorite longer route through the rocky pass. Dark wings blotted out the light from the moon before the creature descended upon him. He screamed and threw up his arms, but the fight was over before he could even get them up. The thing had knocked him to the ground before biting him and taking off again. He lay there stunned for a few minutes before gathering up his things and hurrying home.

He was ready to write the whole thing off as some sort of freak accident when the full moon came around again. Suddenly he was transforming, changing, and then he was... a bat? He knew about werewolves, sure, but a bat? He had to be dreaming. His legs where tiny feeble things on which he could barely move, his wings awkward and attached to those tiny legs making it all even harder. In a dream should this be amazing? Should he be flying? So he tried, he flapped his big ugly arms and got... nowhere. At 220 lbs he was to fat to take off, and his legs where to tiny to do him any good. He had to pull himself around on all fours feeling like a pathetic dog the whole while.

So, when the morning came and his shift fled with the night, he found himself set with a determination. If he must become a winged beast every moon then he should at least be able to FLY. He started to work out, and he found that doing so came easier to him then ever before. Every full moon he would try to fly, and every full moon he would find only disappointment. That was so, until many months later when his weight was finally at a healthy 150 lbs and when he shifted he flapped those great big monster wings of his, then he was airborne.

Finally shifting was a joy. Flying... who knew flying could be so amazing? And stretch marks? Scars? Those little things had disappeared after a few shifts. Maybe he was a beast, a monster, but damn it had its benefits.

Random Facts:

• Has no fashion sense at all.
  
• Completely asexual. He does not feel sexual attraction, however this does not mean he does not enjoy sex. In fact he quite enjoys it, he just doesn't feel sexual attraction towards people.
• He's very touchy feely, he likes to shake hands, hug, cuddle, and just generally be close to people.
  
• His predicament has left him with an obsession with bats. It took him a while to place his own species, and he loves to learn all he can about all species of bats.
  
• Bats in the wild will approach him, and often will hang around and on him.
