There is a yearly competition from which idols from all across Japan compete, The competition is known has the "Rice Ball Idol Tourney." Hosted at the Nagoya Dome in Nagoya, Japan, it is one of the most reputable events of Japan, and draws thousands of attendees every year. In order to be eligible to compete in the Tourney, an idol has to be invited. The criteria have always been kept a secret, and are even rumored to change each year.

The one behind all of this is the lovely Sayuri Hakurei, a former idol with a legacy of national and global concerts. At one time, she was the youngest officially registered idol at age 5, and she has been a part of the business ever since. Sayuri is sweet, gentle, and kind. She loves what she does, and wants nothing more than to spread that joy across the globe. She manages to rake in a lot of money, and is on the list of Japan's top 5 most powerful people. Like Hiroko, she has a smile the almost never breaks, though her demeanor is much calmer, and she never trips over her words. Even when she isn't singing, her voice has an almost therapeutic quality, and is rumored to cure minor illnesses. Her angelic voice and nature have earned her the nickname "Saint Sayuri".

Sayuri is the founder, organizer, and lead host of the "Rice Ball Idol Tourney," named so because rice balls are her favorite food. She handpicks the staff each year to assist in the festivities. She watches each and every contestant perform, and she is the one who announces the winners at the end of the tourney. Winning a gold medal in any event will grant the idol 500,000,000 yen (approx. 4.7 million USD) to both themselves and to the charity of their choice. The event attracts attendees from all over Japan and the rest of the world. Sayuri lives for the tourney, and it puts a smile on her face just thinking about it.

Sayuri's wardrobe consists of very elaborate dresses. Despite her heritage, Sayuri's dresses take on a European influence. She also likes to add various bits of flora and nature cues to their designs. Her dresses are custom-tailored to herself. When she can no longer wear them, she sells them to collectors and puts the funds towards the next Rice Ball tourney.
