Lamielle ("Lami" for short, "Snapdragon" as a petname or nickname) is a living cuddly dragon toy. She is made of a dense, soft, cuddly foam throughout; her exterior skin is of a faux rubber or latex material that is still glossy and squeaky. Her body is like a foam stress ball, if slightly lighter and more resilient, yet still soft and huggable.

Unlike most toys, her mouth has a zipper which can be zipped open and closed. Most of the time, unless Lami opens up to someone, she will most likely stay silent and her mouth will be zipped shut. However if open she can talk and she can use her breath, which has magical properties.

Lamielle is polite, kind, gentle, and delicate, though she has an air of dissatisfaction and anxiety to her, often seeming like she's not all there. She's nomadic, adventurous, creative, curious, and goal-oriented. Unlike similar toys, she is also independent and far from clingy. She is never particularly desiring of any attachments or relationships with anyone, and she is hesitant and silent, untrusting of others. It takes her a while to warm up to people, and because she's usually not in the same place for long, it's unlikely most people get to see her warmed up to them.

Like most dragons, Lami has a magical dragon breath. However it is only vaguely magical. Her breath has a strong fragrance of Lily and Baby Powder. Magically speaking, her breath is capable of only two things:
--Calming people, furs, and plushies
--Renewing life in flowering plants, and causing flowers to bloom

Lamielle was the last work of an elderly toymaker who lived downtown in a largely urban area. He had been designing toys and selling them for all his life and earned a quiet, honest living. The toymaker, however, had no family or loved ones to call his own, and his family were the toys he made and put the most care and effort into. He devoted many years of practice to creating toys in private that could come to life and play with him and with children; toys that had personalities he could come to love and care for like the family he never had.

He succeeded a few times in making living toys, however, none stuck around for various reasons. Some were given away to more needy people, some where stolen, a couple tore and broke and were not durable enough to live alongside him. Lamielle was his attempt at creating a toy who was durable and alive, but designing her was something he had to do in secret.

His health grew poor as he devoted more and more time to perfecting the dragon, and not long after her completion and his discovery of his success, the toymaker died of old age, leaving an innocent Lami all alone, orphaned much like he was himself.

Lami was designed with a purpose, of course. As a partner and family to the toymaker, but also as a toy who could be a friend to young children and similar adults. However without the toymaker, Lami had no way to fulfill her purpose, and would be on her own to trust unknown people, toys, animals, and so on.

For this reason, once the toymaker's shop was closed down and she was left inside his secret workshop, Lamielle felt no particular reason to continue living there. Without the toymaker and without a goal or purpose, she managed to escape the abandoned shop in search of a new purpose or a new family to fill the part of her that felt incomplete. However, with nothing clear in mind, Lami never feels any particular attachment to any person or place, and is usually quickly ready to move on, adventure to a new place, explore, and meet someone new, wandering indefinitely until she finds her goal in life.

The name "Lamielle," given to her by the toymaker, was derived from the word "lamiales," which is the name of the order from which the snapdragon flower is classified. This is why she also goes by "Snapdragon" as a nickname or petname in some situations.
