A new fursona for me named River. I am not dropping my other sonas, I just drew a creature and ended up liking them so much I decided to make them into a species and make one for myself.

About River-Lukin:

River-Lukin is a kind hearted and loving female Saunest Dragon. She lost her family when she was young and was adopted by a pack of eastern dragons shortly after leaving her birth den. It is unknown as to whether or not she has any siblings though it is possible that they are somewhere out there. She was named River because she was always playing in the river. Lukin is the name of the dragon family that had adopted her (Giving a young dragon the family name is a term of endearment in almost all dragon colonies/species and establishes one as part of the family. One dragon can have many family names combined if they are accepted into many different families. Lu is the name of her adopted father and Kin is the name of her adoptive mother.) During her childhood she was made fun of because she stood like an ape-walker (a term used to make fun of dragons that stand on two legs.) She spend most of her life away from her clutch mates until she met an rogue adult Saunest dragon that taught her how to shape shift into other forms, including the feral form of their species, among other forms of draconic powers. From then on she practiced her shape shifting and special powers until she was able to fight off most bullies that came after her. When she reached young-adulthood she served in the guard, protecting the pack from harmful intruders and chasing away rival dragon packs threatening to take her adoptive family’s territory. As she reached adulthood she left the pack with her best friend to adventure around the world.

About the Saunest dragon species:

Physiology: Saunest dragons have two main forms, anthro and feral. Both forms share the same physiology with the exception of how they walk, on two or for legs. The saunest dragon species are very strong in their body build, having large arms and leg muscles and flexible bodies, making them powerful and agile fighters and runners. Their tails are as long as their body is and are large at the base, narrowing down to the tip of the tail. The tip of the tail has extra fur fluffing it out a bit. Saunest dragons have long necks that are often covered by large fluffy manes that thin and extend down the back to the base of the tail. The tail has longer fur on the bottom of the tail extending all the way down to the tip and flaring out. The tails are often used for displays towards other dragons or to keep themselves warm at night. Their tails are very strong and durable, allowing the dragon to hand form them or crush rocks with one trained hit. All dragons are furred and have soft but tough skin underneath the fur. The hands are covered by fur but the fur does not cover the fingers. Instead the skin is exposed and connects to the tips where the nail grows, which is normally the same color of the skin. The hands have 4 digits, three fingers and one thumb that is opposable and allows the dragon to hold and grab stuff with great dexterity. The feet have 4 digits resembling that of a bird claw. There are three toes in the front of the foot with the inner toe being larger and having a hooked talon that angles up, the rest are smaller and with talons that are less curved but just as sharp. The forth digit is found on the back of the foot and can flex allowing the dragon to grasp objects with remarkable dexterity. Both feed and hands have pads on them. The legs are digitrade with backs of heel down to the foot having longer fur, the elbows also have long fur too.

Horns: All dragons have horns that grow from the back to their head and curl back around the head to the front. Older dragons may have extra prongs extending from various points of the horns. The horns are relatively thick yet hallow inside. They can be ridged or smooth. They are born without the horns and they grow in after about one year. The horn on the nose can vary in length but are usually expected to keep trimmed as sometimes they can grow back towards the head and inflict fatal damage to the dragon. The dragons trim their nose horn by grinding them on rocks and trees.

Magic capability: All dragons poses the capability of learning any kind of magic but the saunest dragons often specialize in fire, earth, healing and light magic. When they are young dragons they must be taught how to control their magic, by either their parents or by the elders, or they risk never being able to fully control or their powers till later in their life.

-Sexual dimorphism: Females and males are almost impossible to tell apart as they both have body type and general look of the genitals. Males will usually be large in size and are often time more aggressive often leaning towards more aggressive elements such as earth, and fire while females are small and tend to focus on healing or light magic. The genitals of females and males are almost identical. The males have a fully functional penis with a knot at the base and balls used for impregnating the females while the females have a vaginal opening used for birthing. Males also have a small opening resembling the female’s vagina but slightly smaller and it does not lead to the womb, this organ is often called the pseudo-vagina, that. Instead it of leading to the womb, the pseudo-vagina produces the pheromones used to attract a mate. When aroused the male will secret a sweet smelling and tasting (slightly sticky) liquid. This they used to help establish mating rights to their partners. If their partner accepts them they secret their own liquid in response. The female equivalent to the organ is their pseudo-penis. This organ resembles the male penis but without the knot. Much like the male’s pseudo-vagina, the pseudo-penis will secrete a liquid similar to the male’s but more viscous. Both males and females can expel liquid these organs but will often have to be sexually stimulated in order for them to ejaculate with them.

-Sexuality: As both males and females have similar genitals the sexuality of these creatures are almost always either bisexual, pansexual, or asexual. In their society it is often considered rude to dislike them due to something they are born with. This includes gender, physiology, or mental disorder (it is ok to be mad at them because they used it as an excuse to be rude, but there can be no grudge held due to it). Straight, lesbian, and gay sexualities within the species are often thought of as weird (they accept it from other species since it is a “different species, different customs”).

-Sociology: Saunest dragons are very social creatures, living in medium to large sized groups consisting of 2 or 3 more families extending to about 3 generations. When around their own kind saunest dragons take a feral form as only experienced dragons can shift their shapes with proper training. The oldest of the packs are normally on the “Council of Elders”. The Council of Elders are in charge of dealing with large pack disputes whether it be between pack members or rival packs. They are considered the wised of all the dragons in the pack and are well respected by all. They are also in charge of helping the Alphas make decisions for the pack and tending to the young teaching them the lessons of life. Alphas in the pack are the most dominant pair in the pack. They do not have to be mated but there always has to be one male Alpha and one female Alpha. Both male and female Alphas rule together though usually the female is in charge of war tactics, tending to wounds, and patrols (including but not limited to gathering and guarding the territory) while the females are in charge training the guard, leading charges in battles, and executing discipline on wrong-doers and breaking up fights that go too far. These positions are not exclusive to the genders but it is often normal to find this arrangement in packs. All pack members are expected to defend, hunt for food, and tend to the younger generations regardless of gender. The lowest ranking pack members are usually the ones that are troublemakers (bullying, discriminating others, or refusing to contribute to the back) and are often sent away from the pack when they reach adulthood or as soon as they prove that they can fend for themselves. Pack members are not required to stay in the pack for life but if food is scarce then the youngest of the pack will have to travel to new territories if the current one cannot be expanded or joined with another pack. These dragons are normally willing to share with other packs unless there is a dispute between them. Saunest dragon packs will wage bloody wars against each other if there is a threat detected. While most saunest dragons are friendly, there are a few packs out there that are more aggressive than others. It is not customary for pack members to kill each other. If a pack member dies in an internal dispute the Council have the right to expel the “winner” (for killing a fellow pack member) and one or both Alphas (for not stopping the fight in time) form the pack.

When greeting other saunest dragons they greet each other in feral form accordingly, depending on how close they are. If the dragons have never met before they bow to each other, at this point they will treat each other as equals. If the dragons know each other but are not friends or relatives they will assume the greeting of their rank. A more submissive dragon will often lower its body till it’s completely touching the ground and the tail will coil around the body, while a dominant dragon will only bow the head depending on their rank in the pack. When greeting a friends and family members they will often nuzzle each other in the mane and groom by licking, the more submissive one taking a lower angle then the other. Mates greet each other by touching noses and staring directly into each other’s eyes. Often this is followed by nuzzles and grooming. Rivals will both bow their head low, and will touch foreheads and horns. If one does not back down then a fight usually ensues.

When in anthro form they will also nuzzle as they would if they were friends or mates, but when greeting rivals a submissive dragon will kneel. Failing to do so can result in a fight. If two unknown dragons meet they are expected to kneel in respect in each other.

Sex/coupling within the pack is treated as casual allowing non-family member dragons to mate with each other freely. Incest within the same generation is allowed but never between different generations (ex: sibling and cousin incest is allowed while children and parent incest is not allowed.) breaking the law can result in exile from the pack for life, and disownment form other packs. If partners are in a polygamous relationship all members must consent to it. If one member does not like it, it expected for their partner(s) to respect that and the couple may either separate peacefully or the polygamous relationship must be dropped. Mates, (formally known as the Breeding pair) are the closest form of coupling. Mates are couples that have promised their lives to each other regardless of their intent to breed or not. It often consist
